Sympatico and all it's Sympaticoness!!
#1

I just found out something interesting for all you Bell Sympatico users.

As of right now there is upload and download limit when you order your High Speed internet through Sympatico. HOWEVER, if you order the HighSpeed Bundle( which includes your Internet and like 120minutes of Long distance a month and if you go over that it's like 10 cents a minute)
through BELL instead of SYMPATICO, then the billing is done by BELL and not Sympatico, and because BELL is doing the billing and not Sympatico they have no way of tracking your internet usage so there is no limits on the amount you can upload and download.

Just thought you'd all like to know.

Cheers

I fear with our ISP being part of Bell down here in Nova Scotia, we will be going the same way. They will sell packages to users who want what they had before the up and download restrictions. It's getting pathetic.

We had 7megabit download speeds and 1.5megabit up. That was 5 years ago. Now we are at 1.5 down and .8 upload. All for the same amount of money. It's still not bad speed i suppose but when youve been used to a service for so long and then they screw you like this.......

Ok ive ranted enough Smile

All things considered, MPowered is still the better of the ISP's or choices in our area. Switching to cable would be another bag of headaches for you. Hopefully the new packages will be a good price, no wait, Aliant and good prices don't go together. Wink

Very interesting. I have never heard of such a thing from these providers. Of course living in the US, we dont even have Bell available to us. Lance, have you considered static DSL instead of cable? You server would then hav its own IP. Or what about a fractional T1 line for more speed? Of course a T1 or even a fractional T1 is probably prohibitively expensive. Good luck.

Im on the same ISP as Lance. Cant get a static DSL IP here. Cable offers static but you cant run any type of FTP server or youre busted.

Id also hate to shell out the type of $$ for a fract. T1 or T1 for that matter.
