Good luck with that...apparently others have tried the same thing as you, and are still waiting a response. Perhaps trying to email The Hip directly might be a better option...

Honestly, I'm not sure what else to do. I know a few people on here have been (or are) in the same situation. Hopefully one or some of them have resolved the issue and will post their success story.

Has anything been added to the Hip Club that is IBE-related? I too no longer have a code to get in, but I haven't heard anything about stuff being added...

This whole Hip Club thing has been a debocle in my opinion. I'm positive at the time IVL came out they said they planned to do THC with each album. But then when IBE comes out they tell everyone in The Hip Club to make sure they have their #s and such to purchase tickets. I'm not complaining because I signed up the day IVL came out and I still have my card. But if you're going to do a fan club do it properly and set up a seniority system. It's kind of strange they say "for those of you that bought our 9th album you can join our fan club". I blame all this misdirection of the fan club and lack of tour dates on new (mis)management.

My email address changed a while back so I updated my profile. I emailed the website numerous times because I wanted to make sure they received the change and I would be getting passwords etc. No response...nice.

Well put. They could have at leased added some "inside info" between albums or put a recording session on there or something....

We have been complaining about the Hip Club for a while and I don't want to re-inflame tempers but I couldn't help but notice on the 2002-06-12 Cdn Radio Premiere, Gord Sinclair explain to an inquirer that THC was entirely Jake Gold's idea, and the band just okayed it...maybe the fact that he has gone the way of the dinosaur means the band was never into THC and it was all Jake's initiative.

We never said anything positive about him while he was "in power", but maybe we just didn't know how good we had it back then...the new management is abysmal by comparison...but that's an old and overstated opinion. My point is that this interview makes it clear that the band didn't really care one way or the other...so maybe it's not question of them getting bored or lazy, maybe they really didn't want THC in the first place!

I always found The Hip Club too coldly commercial, and to me that suggested that the band wasn't really into it. The bonus tracks and tickets are great of course, but I suppose what I'm really looking for from a site like that is some increased sense of contact or communication with the band: e.g., live chat, or an 'Ask Gord' function or occasional journal entries from a tour...that sort of stuff. The Hip Club always seemed more about buying and selling stuff to me (not that i was complaining when I got into the 'Richards on Richards' show in Vancouver earlier this summer!!) :mrgreen:

I've been working on the assumption that the new management group is going to come out with some sort of new "Hip Fan Club", completely separate (and very different) from the existing one...I just hope they do it before the buzz about this disc starts to die down (if it hasn't already!)...

As for Jake Gold, Chris is right...it appears Doctor is his new promo project, having used his CTV pull to get them onto both Canadian Idol and Canada AM in the past 7 days...talk about a double-edged sword...
