Never been a best man before, but from the weddings I've been to, I'd sum up a best man speech to include:
- a recap of how the couple met
- how you met the couple
- stupid, embarrasing things your buddy did
- your excitement about having this girl be with him and the future

Or... you can always take the creative route and do something original ('n lemme know how it goes Smile)

Whatever you do.
No sentence should start with:
"Remember the time in Mexico with those two hookers?"

"We're forced to bed, but we're free to dream"

Don't ever end the speech with "It's been so much fun, you'll have to invite me to your next wedding, man!"

Worst...mistake...ever. Not even the drunk people laughed.

I'm a best man and I've done of bunch of public speaking. My words of advice for you:

-Open with a joke. Anticdotes, slightly embarassing = good

-Keep it short and simple. Waxing poetic or trying to be overly eloquent will only draw attention away from the substance and towards the speaker, in this case = you.

-Finish up with a "call back" to either the openning joke or a sentimental moment you mentioned during the speech. i.e "... And now that stellar ballplayer has found his perfect catch. I'm so geniunely happy for the both of you, thrilled and honoured to be here, and want to wish you both the very, very best." Now that's stupid, and off the top of my head, but you get the idea. Smile

Good luck!

You should also make a toast to the bridemaids and how great they look tonight.

Make sure to specially compliment the single bridesmaid who is most likely to get drunk at the reception ....

If I may, I'd suggest more from the heart, and less from the web.

I think yourself and the happy couple will appreciate it, and look back a little more fondly, if your words are sincere and your own.
