Just Back From Sudbury! I got sticks!!!!
#1

Well, it took a few years and a lot of shows, but I finally got Johnny's sticks! As you'll soon see (*hint, hint, Shannon*Smile ) We went straight from the show to the Big Nickle, where I played a sweet drum solo on the landmark itself!

Also scored two setlists, and I now have tips for those who will be trying for such goodies in the future:

If after the show, you head up front and speak politely to Billy Ray and Ricky Wellington, they'll do all they can for you. I asked Billy for Johnny's set list and got that plus his sticks, and I simply introduced myself to Ricky, and he went out of his way, up on stage, and grabbed Paul's setlist for me.

Know the names, be polite, and you'll score.

Billy by the way was pretty nice and engaging, which isn't what I was expecting from his "all business" demenor and love of shredding beach balls with his teeth.

Great Show! And of course... it all went down as the girls were at the BINGO, and the boys were getting STINKO, ON A SUDBURY SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!

Nice score on the drumsticks!!! I was unbelievably close to landing one of those remaing setlists but the security guy gave them to a couple of girls...damn these testicles they get me nothing...I say the breast is sometimes mightier than the sword!!!!

I too saw the Northern Lights last night, and believe it or not, even though I was born and raised in Sudbury, that was the first time that I have ever seen them...truly a magical night!!!

Wow... I look terrible in that photo, ah well... I got STICKS!

Where were you? Sounds like we were pretty close? I was dead centre in front of Gord, two rows back, screaming along to EVERY song with a big guy, green shirt, with side burns... that wasn't you was it?

And when I was handed the lists, I handed them to girls, so I may have been that jerk! Smile

The lights were stunning. I've read about them, seen them on TV... but I'll make sure my kids see them in person. It's the only time I've said: "unbelievable" and actually meant it.

No that big guy wasn't me, but I too am a big guy (6'6") and was about 8 feet to the right of him. I had a blue golf shirt on and was singing along with every tune too.
Those two girls seemed to be pretty happy with their setlists I can take solice in knowing that they went to some real Hip fans...I offered them a hundred bucks for em' but they weren't biting...

Under what circumstance did you meet the big Todd? He wasnt at the show, was he!? That'd be too cool.

Ive met him twice before, I work at GM place. He just grunts and mumbles alot...he tries, hes just not a people person.

We stayed at the lovely Ho-Jo Sudbury, where a wedding was taking place for "Laura and Rob." Myself and Shannon's buddy Nathalie (Who is the newest diehard Hip Head!) were attempting to crash the reception after the concert at around 12:30am. We were walking towards the hall when this guy (Not too tall, but THICK as hell) walks up to us, stops, turns, and begins waiting for the elavator.

I start motioning and mouthing: "That's Todd Bertuzzi!" behind his back, but Nathalie was just going: "what?" "who?" Smile

I was recently at the Rochester show, and got Johnny's sticks handed right to me. However....... in my hysteria, I gave one to the girl sitting next to me without even thinking...she was having such a good time and I guess I felt bad to get them? Now I am feeling a little regret!!

I was talking to one of the stage guys about it, and he in turn gave me the setlist, which was so incredible! Karma...

I need some reassurance that sharing was a good thing...

You all would have done the same............right?!!

I was in the Pit in Syracuse 2 years ago.
After the show I was yelling to Billy Ray for a setlist and he just ignored me - all of the sudden Johnny walks up and just hands me his sticks - cool.
I ran into my buddy a couple of minutes later and gave him one - why not.
Also, what would I do with two? Hmm, come to think of it, what do I do with one?

Very good point...! I have little use for one OR two, other than something very cool to remember the show.

I feel much better, and my momentary twinge of selfishness has vanished...

Cheers!
