What do you think the chances the Hip will play for team Canada at the upcoming Olympics? Were they in the neighbourhood, or did they come specifically for the Salt Lake City Games?

That is a very good question, we will just have to wait and see.

For the Salt Lake Winter Olympics, they came specifically for the show they played, and thank God. My wife and I begged our way into the show and it was spectacular. For the first time in my life, I got to see the Hip within minutes of my home.

I kinda doubt they'd head over to Athens for a show, though. They're gonna be in the middle of touring in support of IBE in August (RIGHT, guys?).

Not that this is particularly relavant to the question, but the summer games involve a substantially higher number of athletes and reps and so forth than the winter games do, and one thing among many that was so cool about the '02 winter olympic party was the intimacy of it. It was a tiny stage, and the room they played in, a Ballroom (!) in the student union building of the Univ of Utah, is not very big either. Having such vivid memories of it, it's weird to picture them playing that type of gig - private party for the Oly squad - in what would have to be a much bigger room and a much bigger crowd.

They seem like more of the Winter Olympic types, with the hockey and all.

I think the fact it was close to home may have been a reason why they played.

Also, didn't they run a contest with Labatt to win tickets to go see the Oly show?
