Does anyone else think that June is way too far away? I mean come on..june? why would the single come out on april 8th, and the album in june? 2 months?...it doesn't make sense.

It just seemz that late May-to early June is the standard release time frame TTH has been doin all these yearz. They're just prawly decided to get the tune out there a bit earlier this time around.And hey who knowz maybe April 8th isn't the release date for sure, That info hasn't come from The Hip's camp,but from some radio station....but who knowz right?

M@W was leaked, so they couldn't push that disc the way they had planned. Good Life was released the same week as IVL, which dropped the ball on the album release (fans who didn't like Good Life were prone to tune out right then and not even buy IVL). If they put out Good Life a month or so before, let folks get hooked and let it fade, then release Silver Jet, I'm thinking their sales would have been better.
The second single from the new album should just be picking up steam come June. Hopefully this will translate into more album sales for the band since fans will probably love the first single "Vaccination Scar."
This method of promoting an album increases demand for the disc. If folks like the music (especially new fans) they'll circle the release date on their calendar, stirring up some momentum and spreading word about a new Hip disc to their friends. I know for myself, I'm really picky about buying CD's and buy very few of them (because of all the crap out there). If the first few singles are really that good, I definitely keep an ear out for the subsequent release date.

I've already circled the entire month if june. I would love to see an early release date followed by a mid-summer tour. It gets really cold up here in the fall and winter. Not that that would stop me from going to a show. One trip to saskatoon we just missed not being allowed on the highway from regina. It was also election night that night. concert was great, it was an evening with show but the weather was evil.

Ya I remember that night of that tunetown gig,My buddy actaully thought we may not make it to the gig alive,we took that one back road from 33rd st. instead of going thru town. I was piloting that adventure and had some fearz coursing thru me.....

I was thinking along the same lines as TLB. A June release would make the most sense sales-wise considering a single release in early April.

well, what do I know, I guess. To me, if I have to hear just the one single for two months, by the time the album comes out i've heard the single so many times i'll probably be bored of it and skip it for the first few times I listen to the cd.

I'd have to agree with that, but it depends on how much the radio stations plug it; Canadian Hip fans will hear it more than some of us unlucky US fans.
