After listening to Live Between Us, I quickly wondered how many of Gord's inspiration's were evident in his ranting and raving. For starters there is:
-A John Lennon/Beach Boys Reference in Grace, Too in the ending rant on LBU,
-David Bowie's 'China Girl' in New Orleans is Sinking on LBU
-The frequent Bruce Springsteen references on IVL's Use It Up and Forest Edge
-Neil Young's "Tonights the Night" on "All Torn Up" and "Down by the River, I shot my baby" on the Roxy's New Orleans is Sinking, 1993
-Elton John's "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" in the 'Hundredth Meridian" from the Martyr in Chicago, 2000... (and one could argue that Are You Ready To Love, sounds a lot like "Are You Ready, Are You Ready For My Love, Elton John, 1978)
There must be dozen's hidden on bootlegs... anyone else notice these types of things?

I've noticed this also...correct me if I'm wrong, but does Gord often sing parts of Paul McCartney's "Jet" at the end of Emporer Penguin, most evident at 12.12.98?

How about Them's "I Can Only Give You Everything" --> "Life Is Forgetting" at NYE 2002.
On the kerfuffle bootleg, wasn't there a track called BGsKissBGs, a combo of Gord singing "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart", "Beth", and "Words"?
He also sang the parts from "China Girl" and "Don't Worry Baby" at the Edge Fest concert last September
Cheers

I get all excited about the Springsteen references from IVL...huge Bruce fan...huge Hip fans...its almost too good to be true
But in addition...Gord seems to borrow such a wide variety of lyrics...it nice to know that he has ecclectic tastes and that such a diverese number of influences find their way into the music.

There is one I've noticed the last few days from the Vernon show I attended in 02 , on my boot at about 3:30 of Nautical,Gord starts ranting and goes into what sounds like another song , not his usual ranting , just fits together perfectly , something about a "wrecking ball", makes me wonder if it's gonna be part of the new material , either way it sounds pretty cool .

I'm listening to the Regina show from back in 99 and noticed Gord started singing Starpainters after a verse of Jet in the middle of Hundredth Meridian. I believe this is among the first times we hear some of Gord's solo stuff that came out on Coke Machine Glow.
