Pearl Jam 2018

I don't like hearing some of them; I don't like hearing "Black" or "Better Man," for instance. And I will never complain about hearing either of them ever again, not after spending so many years complaining about stale Hip setlists. What I wouldn't give for the lamest Hip setlist ever right now.

Great review, but tired of hearing "Black"? "Better Man" I understand, but if I was at a PJ concert and they played nothing but "Black" 20 times in a row, I'm still leaving happy. That song never grows old for me, especially the audience participation on "Oh, I'm spinning".

Is correct. I love the song; I don't always love hearing it live. "Better Man" I can take or leave for the most part, but the 2013 versions were epic af. Find the one from Calgary - total and utter showstopper.

That said, I'm not going to complain about it (if that makes sense). I still think Pearl Jam fans who complain about hearing Ten songs live are the worst people on earth Wink

Give me that over RITFW anyday. Hell, give me Fuckin' Up over Yellow Ledbetter.

Some Pearl Jam fans have a theory that "Fuckin' Up" is the band's secret signal of a really great gig, and I'm almost inclined to agree - it's always a total and delightful shock when it comes out.

Having said that, I frigging love RitFW. Check out Hamilton 2005's version with Sleater-Kinney.

No wonder they played it at their last Ottawa gig. Fantastic show with some great rarities in the setlist (Speed of Sound, Parachutes)

I agree, that Sleater-Kinney version is pretty great. My favorite might be the 2005 Toronto version when Bono came out and the crowd completely lost their shit. There was a great video of it on youtube at one point, but I can't seem to find it.

I was at that show; I was also at the U2 show two nights earlier when Ed came out and sang "Ol' Man River." I have never, and I mean never, lost it at a show like I did when Ed popped out of the stage at the U2 show. I mean, I lost it when Bono came out, but that seemed plausible in light of the earlier cameo.

Ed with U2 - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DScSU89VxA">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DScSU89VxA</a><!-- m -->

Bono with PJ - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlKzqM9LPg0">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlKzqM9LPg0</a><!-- m -->

But yeah...the place went nuts. (The Edge and...Larry Mullen, I think? were sidestage with Bono the entire show. We were in the middle of the floor and couldn't see the U2 guys, but they were apparently there the entire show.)
