The Weakest Link - In Between Evolution - Round 5 - Updated!
#1

Note - I didn't remove Nashville in the first round 5. New poll! Sorry about that.

With Nashville and Gus being eliminated, we have our final four.

Eliminated Round 1
Summer's Killing Us
Heaven Is A Better Place Today

Eliminated Round 2
The Heart of the Melt
One Night in Copenhagen

Eliminated Round 3
Mean Streak
You're Everywhere
As Makeshift We Are

Eliminated Round 4
It Can't Be Nashville Every Night
Gus: The Polar Bear From Central Park

Vote for the song you believe to be the weakest on In Between Evolution and after 48 hours, we will remove the song that has the most votes.

The poll will end Thursday at 9:02am Eastern.

Happy voting!

I'm transferring my own post over from the soon to be deleted "round 5 false start"...

I didn't see Family coming anywhere close to the final four prior to the start of this poll. It's been interesting (disappointing?) to see it continue to slide through, seemingly under the radar. There have been passionate pleas and defenses offered for keeping many of the bygone songs, but I don't recall a single statement from anyone suggesting that Family is a top four song on the album. Yet, here it is. It's a "good" song, and I enjoy how Gord employs "family" in both the personal, "around the kitchen table" sense (sisters, brothers, wolf, wolf lover) and then takes it to a broader, more global/humanity sense of "we're all in this together". However, to place it in the final four of a major work (IBE) in the Hip catalogue is to give it a place of prominence that it is entirely unworthy of.

I would be very interested in hearing from someone who thinks that this is one the best songs the Hip has ever written and is fully deserving of a top four placement in this poll.

I think Family, is truly a case of a song flying under the radar, the way in which the votes have been so split for this album has probably led to a few odd outcomes

I'll let Mr. Garvey again do my speaking for me.

I don’t think Family should be top 4, but in saying that I haven’t voted for it yet, this round included.

Voted Family (again), for reasons stated above. I definitely think it's flown under the radar, as others have said. It's time is up though.

I also voted Family...again. It should never have been in the top 6, let alone the top 4. This poll is ridiculous.

That Family outlived Gus is poppycock.

Family has a similar sound and vibe to Emperor Penguin, and it won Phantom Power. It's not my favourite song on the album, but I like the song a lot.

For the record, I voted INOIB this round.

I know a lot of you love it, which this poll also shows, but I voted Josephine, just as I have every round. It’s just not for me.

Like others, surprised Are We Family is still kicking around. Certainly have Gus and Nashville ahead of it as well as Makeshift. After all the discussion of You're Everywhere, I think it might be ahead of it as well. So, for me, somewhere between 6-8 on this album.

Ah, this round of "Weakest Link" is the weakest...

The only song of this four that would have made my own "final four" list is "Josephine." Confusedcratch: I mean...Gus? Out? Weird, man.

Agree with the premise that Family is an interesting song in that it might no be loved by those here, but it's not disliked either. It is in the middle of the pack for me, and I hadn't voted for it yet until now.

While I have been surprised by the voting, the good thing for me is that if Family goes out here, the 3 remaining songs are actually my top 3 on the album.

The only of my personal top 4 that’s remains is INOIB.
