I've been to Boston a couple of times. If you're looking to hang out in the city for a couple of days, I'd recommend staying somewhere in the city within walking distance of the subway. It's pretty easy to get around. I stayed at a hostel in the Back Bay area, which was roughly a 5-10 minute walk to the subway. Pretty sure there are several hotels in that area as well if that strikes your fancy. Also it was about 1 mile from Boston Common where the original "Cheers" pub is located (which is awesome by the way.) I did a lot of walking when I was there, but took the subway a few times out to Fenway Park and down to the Harbor, etc.. It's a very cool town. You'll like it. I highly recommend catching a Red Sox game if you get the chance.
Hope this helps a little.

A bit off topic here (sorry Mark),
But am I the only one around here that gets excited seeing the venues the Hip have played while visiting a city or passing through a town?
I remember my last trip to Boston... two of my highlights was seeing the ol' Avalon (House of Blues now) and the Orpheum Theatre, because The Hip have played there!
Much like when I passed through Brockville and their Arts Center.
Also, my first time in Montreal, I hit up several Hip venues on my self-guided walking tour (Forum, Bell Center, MusiquePlus, Place Des Arts, The Old Spectrum)...and then it was to the Metropolis to see the boys that night.
Just thought I may not be the only one who likes to make special note of Hip venues while travelling.
Not much advice on Boston from me though... however going to see the Red Sox at Fenway was the highlight.

Could a Hip tour of Boston possibly be complete without visiting their closest thing to an "Abbey Road" album cover photo?
