Do we have to pick platinum to try for the best tickets?

Seems like you'd get a better chance. They don't seem to have a set price, but rather it will calculate it on the fly ...

Platinum Seats program enables market-based pricing (adjusting prices according to supply and demand) for live event tickets, similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold. The goal is to give the most passionate fans fair and safe access to the best tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true value.

edit: although on the Ottawa site, if you enter the promo code, the platinum link disappears...it's shown only without the code... hmmmmmm

Ya, selecting platinum is just indicating your interest in the seat, probably dozens or hundreds of other people are doing the same Sad

I really didn't think I could hate Ticketmaster anymore, but they found a way. This platinum stuff is bullshit. "Giving the most passionate (rich, desperate) fans fair and safe (expensive) access to the best tickets" indeed.

No concert ticket is worth $600.

I know your point, but this is literally the only time ever that I am willing to pay it. Sad

I've seen it for a show shows -- last Hip show in Kingston had platinum seats. In the case of that show, I think some went unsold and went back into the regular sale as the show approached. I had seats in the stands, week before the show floors four rows back appeared.

I would pay that no problem for front row in kingston.

You can blame the band for this, not ticketmaster. This is 100% the artist's call that this is happening.

I would say that's definitely a problem.

The platinum system seems pretty broken, to boot. I tried to pull up the purchase page out of curiosity and it just times out over and over again. I guess $600 doesn't buy you decent service.

I had the front row platinum for $550/ticket for the Kingston show in my "basket"... I only needed one ticket so I was hesitating (just me would be $1100!) and they they were sold to someone else. If anyone else was in the same boat only wanting one but had to buy a pair let me know I would buy the other.
