Ha, you're right. I probably read Gordon Pinsent as Gordon Downie.

Anyway, I saw it mentioned mentioned in Dave Bidini's twitterfeed, then went to the website:

Gord comes out with a glass of beer, reads At The Quinte Hotel, plays The Lookahead on acoustic. Good stuff.

$50 to hear Gord Downie read one poem and sing one song = priceless. Well, listening to Gordon Pinsent speak was well worth it too.

Just like the Gordon Lightfoot/Gord Downie thing, you weren't allowed to take pictures, but I decided to try to sneak out a voice memo. Like Heron said, Gord came out with a beer, which is odd for him, but it went with the poem. After the poem he mentioned how he had never met Al Purdy, but he was intimidated by him, because he (Gord) didn't consider himiself a poet - I laughed out loud at that!

The sound for The Lookahead was bone chilling!

So here's the voice memo in mp3 format - you can't really hear the reading, but scroll further in for the song and that at least sounds really good.

Okay, try this one:

Heron, were you the one that wished Gord a Happy Birthday? If so, you were sitting right in front of me!

Yep, that was me. I got vids of most of his reading and The Lookahead. I'll upload 'em tonight.
