"Now For Plan A" Leak Discussion Thread

Whole album has really grown on me as well, I'm about 75% like. Still can't get into the last few tracks.

Best album since IBE though.

From a review about Alan Arkin's autobiography "An Improvised Life":
Quote:He remembers making a movie with Madeline Kahn (probably Simon from 1980), having the what-brought-you-to-acting conversation. When she replied "I wanted to be the music," at first Arkin was confused. Then he realized, "We don't want to do it, we want to be it. Only we don't know it. No one tells us this." He dedicates his book "to everyone who wants to be the music."

Gord just mentioned Alan Arkin on Q as well.

There's also a shout-out of sorts at the end of the lyrics for WWTBI in the booklet that comes with the album

(For Alan Arkin and Madeline Kahn)

That's what prompted me to ask the question of what the two had in common with the song...

Happy Plan A Day! I'm heading to HMV immediately after work today to buy the CD and vinyl...as well as the new Cuff the Duke album if they have it.

Thanks soundcloud for the preview, but there's nothing like holding the physical copy in your hands. It took a solid year, but something will finally replace Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds eponymous debut from the car CD player. Look forward to this album as a centerpiece of autumn listening (along with Mumford and Sons, and others of course)

Rock on, Hip :music

Did we get this answer yet??

My sister posted this today in her blog: http://storiesoftentold.blogspot.ca/

"My favourite part is the chorus which repeats “We don’t want to do it, we want to be it”. This line comes from a story that Alan Arkin told about the first time he worked with Madeline Kahn. Arkin asked Kahn what made her want to be an actor and she told him that she wanted to be the music, Arkin thought about it and realized that she was right; we don’t want to do it, we want to be it. I really think that that phrase is so powerful, not just in terms of this song, but for the way that you should live your life."

Best song on the record.
