Just curious how the values of something signed by the band (non-personalized) compare to something not signed.
I have a copy of Hipeponymous in my office that is signed by all 5 members of the band with a nice silver sharpie that likely isn't worth much, but I was wondering, if this was one of those rare vinyls would it be worth more as is or autographed?
For instance, I dont think an autographed Gretzky rookie card is worth any more than an unsigned one...in fact, its probably worth less right?
As collectors what would you prefer?

I like posters signed, I think i fucked up tho when had said posters laminated, doh! really regret that now  but they still look good, I think something signed increases the value to me, not monitarily but a good fuckin memory as to how I attained it and what show and stuff. My assumption is its worth more, If i was to sell my signed Phantom power tour poster with all members sigs, It would fetch more than a regular one, same with some signed vinyls I have. I like your gretzky analogy, I'm not sure bout that.
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

I think the fact it's very very easy to get autographs from any members of The Hip it doesn't increase the value of an item, the value for me is in the rarity of the item itself and personally i would look at a rare item being devalued if signed. Something like your signed Hipeponymous or the Coke Machine Glow book and cd i wouldn't expect much more than the regular price of new in store merch.
Everything I have signed I value more than anyone else would but that's more in reliving the events that surrounded the signings.
