Best live version of Hundredth Meridian?
#16

I was at that show...actually, I never made the hsow...the state cops got on the bus I was on because we had to get shipped up to the venue and they said don't get off, the shows over. I was pissed. To make matters worse, the Band had 4 t-times reserved at the golf club I work at and they no-showed us...

9-30-96 at the 9:30 Club in DC. 20 some-odd minutes. So long the taper had to switch sides half-way through the song.

Lots of Save The Planet, the actual line "Escape is at Hand for the Travelling Man," and a rare, not before Dare Devil version of Hiccups. Plus lots of little rants about remembering everything, breaking a microphone stand and a punishment involving a torturous poetry in China... or Oakville.

I had it on CD somewhere, ripped from a real low gen tape I used to play the hell out of. I think it's a casualty of a couple of moves though.

The version from the High Sierra Music Festival, in Bear Valley from 1995 was pretty epic

not sure where, when or who I got this version from, its the 2nd last song in The Martyr's in Chicago, and the rant is about the cartographer John Welsey Powell. Under 7 minutes.

1996-09-11 in Las Vegas, over 17 minutes, includes Westwind, Insomniacs of the World, Gathering Storm, and So Hard Done By.

My personal favourite for a show I've seen would be London 2004-11-27, which wasn't particularly long, but the crowd was going insane by the end of the microphone stand battle.

I went to a show in Cleveland back in 2007 with a friend of mine who wasn't much of a fan beyond a few songs here and there. At the end of Fireworks he turns to me and says "This is awesome!" Then the opening notes of Hundredth Meridian kicked in. I just looked at him and said, "Oh, then I think you'll like this"

I love when new fans discover the greatness that is a live Hip show. When I saw them at the Sasquatch Festival in '06, my sister and I were standing beside a girl who had never heard of them before. Immediately after their performance, she ran off to the merch tent and came back with 3 Hip CDs and a t-shirt.

Of the few times I've seen it live, my favourite has to be from the Academy 3 in Manchester at the end of 2009. Amazing!

I'd like to hear some of the older, extended versions from the mid-90's if anyone has FLACs. :thumb:

Thank you :thumb:

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!
