Tats are a very personal thing ... just follow your heart. I own a few inks myself and can tell you that a good memory is just as good, if not better than a good tat.

The music video for this song is definitely one of the most ridiculous music videos ever. I think it would have been better suited for a light-hearted poppier song, although it could be argued that the juxtaposition helps highlight the darkness of this song.

Incredible song. Can we vote this best music video ever? Or at least most Canadian music video. It could be our national anthem, if anthems were videos.
Whoever was gonna get a tattoo. Did you? lol I'm including "From thin and wicked prairie winds" on mine. Prairie people know the truth in that statement.

So glad to see this thread pop up again.
I want to ask Hipbasers' opinions of the lyrics of this song. I've spent too much time analyzing the lyrics for all of IVL, but this song is still one of the hardest tracks to 'decode', despite it being one of my favourites. I have a few competing theories, but I want to hear others' thoughts first.

I think it's pretty self explanatory to be honest, but then again I'm the worst at finding hidden meaning in songs until I've been told it, then it's like...duh!
This would be my very literal interpretation.
Where you don't complain but you still do
And you don't explain if you want to explain
What you believe you say without shame, "I just do"
To say what you mean you don't mean what you say or you do
It seems like an anthem in support of people simply being themselves. No apologies. You don't have to explain away why or who you are. Also the lines 'to a time and place now/not lost on our imagination" could mean the songs is about wishing you were all those things.
Where the wild are strong
And the strong are the darkest ones
And you're the darkest one
The strongest people can be the most troubled or whatever "dark"' is supposed to mean. The strongest people aren't always the ones we expect. Isn't it true that the people who've gone through the darkest times come out all the strong for it? I actually find the chorus to be quite uplifting to be honest. I never saw it as a dark song at all but quite positive. "If that's what you want....then you're the darkest one". Of course now that i've written it out it seems way too simple an explanation.

more IVL love, please!!!!!!!!!!
it's bananas how under-rated this album is. A travesty!
