scalping should be illegal
and this is just another reason why fan clubs/tickets must happen
i remember waiting in line for the massey hall tickets...i think it was the phantom power tour...anyhoo the massey hall guys/promoter(?) asked you a basic thip question and if you didnt know the answer you were removed from the line...it sure put a stop to the touts waiting in line to buy tickets for their "boss"
lately ive been discourage with the number of people who think its OK to buy tickets and scalp them. ticketsnow and craigs list just helps everyone become a scalper, which sucks
i LOVE what the hip did in belleville at the empire theatre...pick up will call day of the show...shut down all scalpers! fan club members ONLY
there are always ways to improve things and generally the hip are tops in my books regarding their desire to get the tickets into the fans hands at cost.

I paid $300 to sit third row for their opener in Kingston. I did get to hear 38 yrs old and Pigeon Camera...so I cetainly enjoyed the show. I believe they also played On the Verge, 50 Mission Cap, and something else not on THEIR favourites list.
It must be tough to be a scalper these days I'm guessing. But couldnt there be an electronic swipe system (swipe your Visa or something along those lines) used for ticket purchasers at the gate? It's 2009 for f**k sakes, we should be able to get around this without the fan club set-up.
The arguement with fan clubs is that a majority of people are working at 10 in the morning, and get screwed not being able to buy tickets because of work commitments. There should be a way to accomodate everyone.

I feel good for selling my 4th row tickets to a fellow Hipbaser for Hamilton at face value because I can't make it.
Now is where everyone says how wonderful I am
want to be a nobody without peer
want to be a thought that's never done
want to shake your faith in human nature
want to break the hearts of everyone
want to be your wheezing screen door
want to be your stars of Algonquin
want to be your roaring floorboard
want to break the hearts of everyone

So that's how the Artpark shows sold out so fast... glad I decided to skip those and pick up tickets to see them in Chicago for 30 bucks less and in London.

I now have a ticketmaster application on my Blackberry so there is that route when I'm working.
