It's always cool hearing other bands talk about the Hip. He seems to like them.

I've got nephews who are as into Death Cab as much as I am into The Hip.
One of my nephews has a baby who is less than a year old, and she has a Death Cab For Cutie onesie!
He and I were talking music one day and I told him I'd never heard any of Death Cab's songs. He was pretty surprised and said "they get played on the radio alot." I told him I didn't listen to the radio.
So he loaned me one of their CDs, I put it on my iPod and one of the songs came up recently. I liked it a lot.
I've got no beef with this Death Cab. As for the comments that dude made in the video, I think I know where he's coming from about the whole "bar band" thing. Obviously he didn't mean it literally. I think it's a testament to The Hip sticking to their sound even after all these years. Their tunes still have that raw, exhuberant feel you'd expect from a so-called "bar band."

I am very much into Death Cab. They have a unique sound and never cease to impress me when I hear a new song. Their lyrics are very story-telling-esque as opposed to Gord's more ambiguous "multiple-meaning" type lyrics.
I saw them live in Toronto this past June a couple weeks before going to Big Music Fest. Death Cab definitely puts on a great show... of course its nothing compared to the hip though :music
