There I was at 37000 feet...listening to the Hip!
Last week I was on an Air Canada flight from Toronto to Vancouver.
I am an Air Canada employee and was lucky to get a seat in business class.
This Boeing 767 does not have the upgraded interior so it has a large projection screen for the in flight movie.
The movie was Wild Hogs. Not a great movie and I had seen it a week earlier.
So I fell asleep somewhere near Winnipeg and woke up over Calgary.
As my eyes began to focus I noticed Gord Downie on the screen!
My first thought was that maybe it was an interview or a documentary. But then the screen changed to show the whole band and they were playing!!
I scrambled to get the head phones on and started rocking to Grace Too!
This is amazing!
Here comes the flight attendant...."Could I get a Sleman Cream Ale please". Nothing goes better than the Hip and beer!
It turned out to be a 5 (or more) song excert from the That Night in Toronto dvd. The songs were Grace Too, Courage, Bobcageon, Nautical Disaster and Litlle Bones...maybe more while I was sleeping.
I wanted to head to the back of the full plane to see how many others were rocking to the tunes but I didn't want to leave my seat!
What a great way to pass the time.....Listening to the Hip, drinking beer, and getting paid to do it!!!
Can't wait until next Wednesday night - The Hip and beer in Muskoka!!!

On a side note: The newer aircraft that we have come with a personal entertainment LCD screen in the seatback in front of you.
Until recently, World Container was in the music menu. It had been there for at least the last 4 or 5 months. Unfortunately, it has been removed.
Hopeully we will get it back so that others can enjoy the Hip and others might discover them for the first time!!
