Hmm I was at the Erie show last night and they had World Container for sale AUTOGRAPHED for $15 each. Now that is a great idea eh!!!
I already have the CD but an autographed one got another sale.
Im thinking they should have more stuff even numbered items. Say mabey autographed drum sticks, Auction off Gords sweaty shirt at the end of every show. hehe for local charity of coarse. Autographed posters mabey. It sure would generate extra sales as me being the example , I was not gonna buy anything as I already have a tour tshirt from this show but the CD got me.
Even split the guys up and have a photo with your fav hip guy. I know only Gord would have the biggest line but just think If you stayed a while you can get an individual pic with each member. I know it would take time from the guys but an hour b4 each show or after and cut it off even if there are still people waiting. Hmmm Id wait for it. But thats just my ramblings after a great show last night in Erie.

Personally I've always found the idea of pre-autographed merchandise to be a dumb idea. It might sell well... but to me the joy of having something that's autographed is in remembering where and when you were when you saw the artist(s) and asked them to sign it yourself. You already know that its a Hip album... do you need the signatures to prove it?

And if they sold more autographed stuff it would take the fun out of going and getting them yourself... which as I said, for me, is the best part.

we had a discussion awhile back about the idea of selling vip tickets for a show that would have a meet & greet sort of thing before or after a show where you can get pictures taken with the band or get them to autograph something. the time it would take from the band could be controlled with how many of these tickets they were willing to sell....easy money boys :lol:

I agree. I love meeting the band.
Anybody who's ever met them in person, and got something signed, knows that Gord will usually write a little message along with his autograph.
He signed my Coke Machine Glow CD cover, "Dan's little Orange Number. Enjoy, Gord Downie"
I have an ALberta license plate which reads HIP FAN, and Gord wrote "I drive the speed limit, Gord Downie".
It's pretty awesome.

I agree. I've bought autographed stuff in the past (non-hip), but it's so much better getting something signed for yourself. I'm really hoping I get to meet them after the show in September for exactly that reason.

Me personally I never seem to be at the right place at the right time to meet anybody. As for signed stuff without actually meeting them. I dont mind. I like my "office" with all my autographed stuff on the walls wether I met them or not it "looks" cool.

met em last nite....great show btw! first time i met gord, i had my booklet opened to "Pretend" and he wrote "Cody's Song" last night he took my ticket and wrote "Cody's Maximum R&B" gord is the greatest!






missed the other gord by a few seconds!

They do have meet n' greets after shows and they are free but you have to be invited by the record label or promoter. The hard part in getting the invite.
