I am traveling into Cleveland for The Hip show this coming weekend 4/14/2007 from Buffalo and I am looking for a place to watch the Buffalo Sabres game at a bar in Cleveland and maybe recruit some other Sabres/NHL fans as well. Anyone have any ideas on where I can find a nice bar in the downtown area to do this and catch the game. I am pretty familiar with the layout of Cleveland just looking for ideas on what bars may show out of area NHL games. Also looking to round up some Buffalo fans to watch it as well.
Any thoughts or people interested please let me know. NHL Playoff Hockey and The Hip. A winning combination.

I'm not a Sabres fan, but there is bar called the Winking Lizard just up the road from the HOB that should have the game on - they usually have just about every game on there. It is located at the corner where Prospect and Huron meet - I'm fairly certain that Prospect is the street that runs along the north side of the Quicken Loans Arena - and then the Winking Lizard is just about a block to the east from there.

Great info. I am very familiar with the Winking Lizard. I am staying right next to it. Love their food and tall drafts.
Still looking for Sabres fans and other suggestions if people like other bars around there.

No the game is Saturday night. I hoping to catch as much game as possible while it is on and opening act is playing. No disrespect meant to the opening act, this is the playoffs though.

My husband likes hockey... (also a Dave). We'll look for you at the Winking Lizard, if we end up there after the show, which we very well may. We're coming up from Cincinnati.

i should be at the winking lizard for the sabres game. Hope to hell there is an opening band for the Hip and they dont start til at least 10. but thats just wishful thinking im sure.

i just spoke w/house of blues; there is no opening act and show should be from 8:30-10:30. there is another bar down the street from winking lizard, on the back street (prospect) caled "nicks"(across the street from residence inn entrance). they has the sabres season opener on when i was there. one problem finding sabres game is no one follows hockey in cleveland and the indians and cavs are also playing.

We will be at the Lizard for the game as about 15 of us are coming in from Buffalo as well. Probably only get the 1st period in. That's why I love my sling box as I will catch part of game during breaks in the show on my cell phone.
