I am wondering if there was a recording made of the Minneapolis show at the Fine Line on July 18. I'd really like to get a copy if so.

I thought it was a great show, though I thought it ended strangely. Seems like Gord got a tad pissed at the guy who grabbed the mic when they were Jamming to Pillform #3. Gord went on that mini-rant, and the song ended. He got up and headed off the stage. Julie gave him a confused look and said something like (If I can trust my lip reading) "Are we done?" I was thinking that they intended to play Pascal's Submarine as the final encore, since they didn't play it all night, but Gord got a bit riled at the dude grabbing his mic, and said... Screw this.
I could have sworn Gord said something about Him being the only Demi-god on this stage.. but then again, he was mumbling pretty good.
Anyway, decent show, and I'm probably way off base on my observations.

It should be availble soon by the end of this week most likely thurs or friday ... Some of the boots have been really quiet -even with my speakers on the comp cranked but you will most likely be able to make out most of what gord said....

I certainly wouldn't stake my life on it, but that's what I thought he said. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it, I sure could be wrong. I didn't catch most of the first part of his rant, just the end, and my wife and I agreed that it was something akin to that. However he could have been referencing something else entirely. I just thought it was odd.
I was mainly just seeing if someone else was at the show and thought the whole ending was strange.
Gord seemed to be having fun with the crowd during the whole show. Someone in the front called him "Sweet Machine", and he had a good laugh about it. Then he left for his encore, and the guy grabbed the microphone and said something like "Come back out, Sweet Machine!" After Gord came back out he laughed about it, and started playing Going, Going, Gone, a Bob Dylan remake (which was good incidentally). They went into a good rendition of Pillform, and near the end of the tune, Gord leaned away and was jamming on his guitar, the same guy grabbed the mic and said something into it. Gord turned back towards the mic, said his rant, and, when the song ended, got up, and left the stage. It was my interpretation that Gord was a bit ticked off.
Like I said, don't read too much into this, it wasn't that big of a deal, and I'm a self-proclaimed idiot. I'll be pretty damn embarrassed if my interpretation's way off.

Yep, I was at the show. I was a couple people back, just to the right side of the stage, wearing the Steve Nash jersey, in case anyone noticed :-) But from where I was I had a pretty good view, and could hear pretty well.
The way I understood it was this: the guy who grabbed the mic before the encore, and then later during Pillform was the same guy who started the whole Sweet Machine thing. I hate to be a bringdown or anything, but he probably should have been removed at least from the stage area after the first time he took the mic. But, hindsight is 20/20, or so they say.
But I definitely got the impression that the reason the show was suddenly over was because of that incident. From what I heard, and again, I think I heard quite good, Gord said, "There can be only one demagogue here. Tonight that demagogue is me." Then he walked off.
While that may sound arrogant at first, imagine his position. Putting on a show (a REALLY good show) for a crowd that is clearly enjoying it, only to have your setup all messed up in the middle of the song. He finished the song, but he had to lean way over as the mic had been all adjusted on him. I imaine it really threw him off.
Anyway, sorry to "waste" everyone's time with such a long message. The reason I am looking for the show is that Chancellor and that Dylan cover were EXCELLENT.

hehe Actually, just this morning in the shower I thought to myself that he might have said demagogue instead of demigod.
That, while having similiar intent, is a little less harsh than demigod.

I wasn't there, but it wouldn't surprise me if he used the Demi-God line. He's used it before live, and in a recent interview with canoe.ca. I find it hysterical!

Just kinda find it odd that Gord's website hasn't posted the setlist for the Minneapolis gig cratch: cratch: I wonder if they'll even realease this show due to the controversy sorrounding it,if one can call it that :roll: :roll: Whats everyones top 5 gigs from this tour assuming people have bought that many. I just finished burning and listening to the Chicago show bootleg which was recorded the day after the Minneapolis show. I had read the previous posts before my listening session and was debating wether Gord might have made the demigogue comment or not.
On track #6 just before Canada Geese started he said, "Chicago loves its demigogues". I'm sure the previous night's incident was on his mind, because he made that off hand comment.
I attended the Detroit and Chicago shows, yelling and screaming my head off for Gord and his music, hoping to hear my voice when I purchased the bootlegs later, as I'm sure some other fans have. But this fellow in Minneapolis carried that idea a bit to far.
I can see how Gord would be mad or upset, when he knows everyone there came to see him perform and listen to what he has to say in between songs, and this drunk jerk tries to steal his spotlight.
So my guess is you guys are correct in what you heard that night. By the way, I agree with Gord's comment anyways. There can only be one demigogue on a solo rock concert tour, and Gord is it! LONG LIVE GORD!
