Poor Old Montreal - studio recording? - Markus - 01-31-2007
Sorry if this is a ghey first post.....
But does anyone know if there is a studio recording of Poor Old Montreal available? I had heard it was recorded for one of their albums but never released. I've heard the live version actually recorded in Montreal and while it's great, I'd love to hear the studio version for comparison.
This to me is one of those songs that really symbolizes what the Hip can do - good music/melody to start with, something uniquely Canadian, then really touching lyrics.

Montreal is the more common title, drop the "Poor Old" part...
It was recorded for Road Apples but never released; you are correct.
You can visit the Hip Museum to learn more about it and listen to a live version (probably the one you have). As the song was never released, there isn't an official studio version to be had.

About Cleveland tix - go to their website and sign up to be on their email list. It isn't too bad, they send me like one email per week of upcoming shows then one email on Tuesdays of half price ticket shows. For being on the list - you can then get presale tix. Presale for Cleveland started yesterday at 10am.
So - go sign up, hope that helps, see you at the show!
