MMM Profile -
sean.bonner - 12-20-2006
I was channel surfing today and saw that MMM Profile was coming up, so I decided to see who it was. It was The Hip! I though this would be old news because the date in the information said 2003, but then they showed promo photos from World Container, clips (and then the complete video) for In View, a Gord Downie interview from 2006 and also really REALLY short clips from on of their Club shows from this fall.
Also, footage from 1991 Seattle (Little Bones & She Didn't Know), 1996 show in Toronto, and (guessing by the way Gord was dressed) a 2000 show.
Didn't find anything in the search feature. Midly entertaining, nothing too special though.

Ya last night around 715 i was looking through the guide menu (rogers cable) and i saw a MMM profile on at 730. And most of the time its a band or singer that i dont have too much interest in so i dont usually stop to see who its on, but for some reason i passed it and thought what the hell ill check it anyways, and to my surprise it was the Hip! anyways it was pretty good with the not only old stuff but they also had some stuff about WC including the In View video.

Wow, I have been looking for information on that 1991 Seattle show. It is missing from the records. Does the video footage mean an audio copy of that show is available?

Didn't they open for Nirvana once? If so, I bet that would be the show.

They did open for Nirvana, but if memory serves (but at my age it does swing and miss more than occasionally  ) the show was in Chicago or Minneapolis.

Actually, it was the other way around. Nirvana opened for the Hip at a club in Madison, Wisconsin. This was sometime around late 1990 if I remember correctly. The Nirvana boys were there to record some demos with Butch Vig (songs which would eventually appear on "Nevermind" in '91). The two bands were mistakenly double-booked for the same night, so Nirvana agreed to open the show. In the Canadian rock biography "Have Not Been the Same", Gord talks about meeting Kurt Cobain and making small talk with him in between soundchecks. As Gord tells it, their conversation was brief as Kurt was sprawled across a pool table at the time and looked like he was gonna pass out.

I found a web site calld Tape Trader that hs Oct. 22, 1990 at the Off Ramp. I remember getting my tickets for Easter in 1991. The show must have been in April or May of 1991. Does anyone have a copy of this show?
