I don’t think this is a stupid question but will the Hip play NOIS in New Orleans? I think they would but some people might consider it to be insensitive. Your thoughts?

It was a song that was written long before any actual events unfolded. I think it's stupid to ditch a song because people may relate it to a hurricane.
Furthermore, they can introduce the song differently and/or alter lyrics to cater to the New Orleanian crowd. Even if they don't, I don't think concertgoers will begin throwing things on stage upon hearing the opening guitar riff.

Are they scheduled to play NOIS?? didn't think so. I doubt they would play it if they did play there.

I don't think that they will play it...but if done with an introduction explaining the background I think it would go over very well.

Still it could be taken the wrong way even with a proper explination, people could miss it.... it would probably be alot safer for the bands reputation for them not to play it... they didn't play it at moncton 2005 and the concert was still kick ass.

New Orleans is Beat is more a love song than anything else. I don't see how it could be at all offensive.
NOIS is a completely different story. Though rich in images, metaphor and a fabulous bass line, it implies that the city sinking. The fact that people had been predicting such an occurance for a long time probably planted the lyrical seed in Gord's head. However, given recent circumstance, it may be best to not play it in New Orleans. As for other states, go right ahead.

I'm sure Gord will dedicate it to all the people of NO if it's played, but seriously people are getting too sensative and over react about things like this, when Katrina hit I didn't hear NOIS on the radio for a few months until 97.7 started playing killerwhaletank again and then the regular version... same thing when 911 hit, pulling shows or movies with the towers in them just cause it might up set people.

It probably wouldn't be played because we live in such a sensitive society these days that I'm sure there would be an uproar about it.
