hey everyone...
i am sure like all of you are, i can't wait for oct. 17th when the new album is released. Just saw the In View video for the first time and i must say, Gord seems to be getting more energy as he gets a bit older lol. Much different video then we are use to seeing from the Hip, but i like it.
I was just wondering if anyone here has figured out, or know where i can go to find the chords to In View. I know its only been out a few weeks but someone out there has to be on the ball and got it figured out already. if anyone can help that would be great.

Ha ha... I'm glad someone picked up on that. I wrote the tab on the those two strings on purpose but it probably sounds better if you play it on the B and G.

Just to chip something in, I'm pretty sure when I saw this song live, Gord was using an open tuning, just the way he was playing all strings open and then moving up 5 or 7 frets for other parts. He was using what looked like a garrison instead of the beat up old gibson for that one.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and call bullshit on most of Gord's "guitar playing". I'm am certainly no pro, but I know when I see something that makes no sense. And Gord's guitar playing.... well it makes no sense.

Not bullshit.... but Gord's guitar is quiet (barely audible) for a reason. He's not the most skilled guitarist in the world. Chord changes aren't exactly his forte. But he's definitely playing up there.
Having said that, there are a lot of open chords in In View. Check out my tab for it:

OK, I wasn't exactly fair to Gord. He can play. He even plays the right chords, sometimes. But he does fiddle randomly on the fret board from time to time. And, as was mentioned, he is always WAY down in the mix. Yes, Gord CAN play but I'm saying he has a tendancy to stop playing anything coherent and just ryhtymically flop his fret hand around. The very first time I saw the Hip I was right up fonrt at the Fillmore, and believe me, there were many times that he did this. I'm not saying it's bad. It must be really hard to sing and move around the way he does and still play. I stand by this and Gord is the only singer/guitarist that I have ever seen do this.
TragicallySteve: You are obviously well versed in guitar and you have to admit that this is the case. If you've never noticed this, throw on some footage. It can't be that the only two times I've seen the Hip, Gord lost control of his motor functions.

The great part about Gord and his playing is that I'm sure he knows he's not that good, but he still plays. He plays some solo acoustic shows with nothing to hide behind. It's him and his guitar. He's not that skilled but he's still willing to bare himself and all his mistakes for the world to see. The live show could do without his guitar at all and nobody in the crowd would even notice a difference in sound but I think he does it so that he has something to keep him occupied rather than feeling the need to flail around the stage for EVERY SONG. Would I love him to be maniacal and leave the guitar at home when they play live? Sure, but it's not reasonable. At some point, it would become overdone and he would seem like a parody or a caricature of himself. He needs the guitar to keep himself sane I think.
I do know what you're saying. For instance, in NOIS, both hands are all over the place, flailing away and not in sync at all. You can tell if his guitar was the only instrument heard, it would sound disjointed and terrible.
Anyway, I don't know what I'm trying to say. Gord sans guitar is a whirling dervish of epic proportions but that Gord can only be present for certain periods of time. Sometimes the guy needs to play guitar just to get a break and rest.
