Best album title - Killer Whale Tank - 08-17-2006

Give it up for...

Actually, this is tough. I'm torn between 'Fully Completely' which so nicely captures the ethos of the early Hip, and the poetic chutzpa of 'World Container.'

Worst one is easy though - In Violet Light is a sadly unfunny and uninteresting pun. Symptomatic of Gord's tendency to over-think his lyrics in that phase. And 'In Between Evolution,' as much as the albums kicks ass, is not very good either.

But I haven't answered my own question...

The album is set to arrive in Canadian stores on Oct. 17, while the first single, "In View," will hit Canadian radio in two weeks.
OMG this made an otherwise terrible day so good. Well ok I might be coming off my high a little now but still... wooo!

I picked Phantom Power... I love everything about that album, the name the songs everything. and a close second was Trouble at the Henhouse, and in third is World Container.

I like Up To Here, but also In Between Evolution.

World Container is pretty sweet too. It is so multi-dimensional. I am still thinking about the title.

Actually, In Violet Light is one of my favourites. It has (or can have) a few different connotations, and it brings up a nice image for me - a violet light seems peaceful.

I'm surprised Day for Night is leading...I suspect that people are eliding their affection for that ALBUM (by most accounts, the Hip's best) with its TITLE. But you know, if I had to cut one album in my life, I wouldn't call it DFN. 'World Container' or 'Fully Completely,' on the other hand...

And people DO realize that Road Apples is a euphemisn for 'frozen horse turds,' right? :mrgreen:

I picked DFN cuase it's the name of the cover art/painting itself,it's I think my favorite Hip cd,TATH is a very very close 2nd, that too,the cover art being the name of the CD, I always thought that is such a cool thing....

I voted for Fully Completely, although had Hipeponymous been on there I would have voted for it...and yes I know it is the name of the boxed set and not actually an album title, but I dig it anyways.

Each title is uniquely creative and catchy, but I like IBE because it rings a bell with the current world and stands out the most for me today.

I'm not surprised at all. The reason DFN is a great album is the consistency of its mood, which is rather elegantly summed up by the title.

A world container, however, is just a box for sticking your world in.
