Hearing any two guys play wheat kings always makes me shudder. I'm not opposed to cover bands, or hokey cover bands (http://www.steveandchris.ca), but this song just don't sound right without Gordie.
In fact, my requests usually go like this:
them: Ok Guys, what do you want to hear next?
me: Hip Hip Hip
them: aaaaalright, here's some Tragically Hip for you
me: Not Wheat Kings!
them: Oh, aaaaaalright, here's some Counting Crows for you guys....

I think that all of the videos on his page have been included in hipfans.com DVD downloads. I'll get them posted to the tracker soon for those who are interested.
