Album Rumours? - Chris Tanz - 07-26-2006

Anybody got anything ... anything at all ... juicy or otherwise ... about the new album. All I know is (i) Bob Rock [don't start]; (ii) Fall release, and (iii) we've been hearing a bunch of potential tracks at the summer shows.

Let's crank up the rumour mill, people!!

Potential Tracks (as performed this summer)

AndGraceToo has suggested that they will be on tour in the southern US in November.

It will be better than M@W and worse than Phantom Power.

Bob Rock will ruin at least 70% of the tracks.

The Drop Off will get some nice Air Time.

I really don't believe in the validity of this comment. It seems to be held by about half of the people on this board. I think that Bob Rock will enhance what The Hip have brought to the recording studio. I believe he will make the new CD more accessable and radio friendly to the average listener. I mean, wouldn't the band like to increase its fan base and CD sales. Bob Rock has a history of working with popular bands that have fallen into a slump. He has a knack for reviving their popularity and increasing their radio airplay.

I also believe that my comment and others like Cpt. Trip's are just biased opinions. The real proof will be what I stated earlier.....CD sales and radio airplay. Bob Rock will be considered a success or failure based on these figures.

Wait a second... Bob Rock is producing!?!?!?!?

I think Hipbase needs a thread on the ramifications of this.

EXACTLY! everyone here is all upset over this. who the hell cares who produces it?!

people still complain about him despite the fact that the reviews of the new songs have been almost all positive.

Dear God in His Heaven - Not another Bob Rock thread.

- Cpt. Trips - 07-26-2006

Tonight on Fox, when offside comments go BAD!

I honestly didn't mean to start sh*t, just thought I'd throw a dumb ass comment in a thread that was pittering away with the fact that no one knows anything. We're all in the dark right now, or at the lonely end of the rink as it were.

In fact my comment about Bob Rock was more of a throwback to all the individuals on the board who are worried about it, I really havn't listened to the albums he has produced, cause I heard they sucked.

When I first heard that Bob Rock was producing the next record I was totally shocked. Being known for producing such bands as Metallica, Motley Crue and the Cult, I just couldn't picture it. However, after recently hearing 4 new tunes live, I can honestly say I've never been more pumped for a new Hip record. I can't wait to hear how the new record sounds... I just wish we didn't have to wait until October.

The hip are always moving forward musically and you never quite know what to expect with each new release. The boys have never disapointed me yet and I don't expect to be on October 17th either. I just know this record is going to Rock!(no pun intended...)

Haha quote of thee day. Much funnier after a long day of work, maybe...

I hope all the new songs they've been playng live end up on the album because they are all outstanding in my opinion. If they are any indication of how the album is going to sound this album is going to be spectacular.

- Triacc - 07-27-2006

Anybody hear anything about a name for the new album?
