accoustic Foo Tour!! - opiated - 07-11-2006

fuck was that an unreal show last night in vancouver at the orpheum...got to go down with some contest winners, and the show had it all...dave played accoustic the whole show as advertised..the violin was a great touch for every song, and a keyboardist who pulled out the accordian for a few tunes..and Pat Smear was in the band!!!!! great versions of Walking after you, Everlong, and Best of You, in fact the entire encore were 3 of the coolest tunes i've ever seen/heard live before..dave's intro for Friend of a Friend was humorous, and touching as he never said "this is about Kurt", but he made it obvious (to those who've heard the song know how cool it is)....as for that thread about "best frontmen", add dave to the list..had the crowd in the palm of his hands, and had us laughing so hard between tunes..gave a couple "shit" for showing up late " you couldn't make it on time eh??? gonna blame transit??"..., and gave another girl a hard time for taking a "piss break" as he called it.."shit..you're gonna miss the best part of the show!!" what a great night.

I'm going to the Aug. 15 show in Wash DC and I can't wait. Thought an acoustic Foo show would be interesting, and it sounds like its just as kick ass as normal. I love Dave, he's got to be the funniest guy in rock.

Excellent show last night. Setlist was similar to the one in the first post with a couple of additions, most notably My Hero. Dave said that was the first time they had ever played it acoustically and it sounded great. The encore was awesome - that alone was probably worth the price of the ticket. With the more laid back setting came a lot more chatting than normal from Dave, who is truly a hysterical guy. He grew up in this area so he always talks about local stuff and last night it was about his vacation in Rehoboth Beach last week, and his prowess at Whack a Mole. Too funny. He also said they're filming these shows for a dvd, which is excellent news.

Those of you going to any of the remaining shows, enjoy! It's a treat.
