Hello fans,

My host has finally given me the boot... albeit a really soft one. So the tracker needs a new home... php & MySQL host that allows Bit Torrent sites. If anyone knows of a host that meets these requirements, and is fairly cheap, please let me know.

Alternatively, if there are any fans out there who could help me/explain to me what I need to set-up my own server, please contact me. I have a 1.5meg synchronous static connection and a couple of P4 computers sitting around that I can repurpose however I want.

The tracker is down right now because we crashed the server. My host has graciously unsuspended my account so that I can get things fixed. The problem appears to be the Pittsburgh show... too many people trying to download a show that has been removed from the tracker...

Kinda cool though, that we crashed it.

The site message said no more '06 shows till the albums out. I'm assuming that's a top level memo. I was hoping to grab the Lewiston show if it came out but I can wait. Thanks for all the time you put into this Chris.

Not cool at all because it cost me a cheap host. My costs for the tracker will probably jump from $40 a month to over $100 a month if I need a dedicated host.

The site message regarding no more 2006 shows is a request from the band. As fans who've been allowed to tape and distribute and been granted great access, I think it's an easy decision to hold-off on releasing 2006 shows.

i don't think his comment was a shot at you, chris.

but i can't figure out why the band would ask that. the way i see it is, if we get to hear the new songs progress, then that does nothing but build hype for the new CD.

i also find it strange that they made that request when there has been no mention of a release date for the new cd.

anyway, back to the topic of your server. i have a friend in the states who has a private tracker. let me ask him who he uses and what he pays per month. or do you prefer to stay with a canadian company?

Thanks for the input Mark. It might not have been a shot at me, but seeing as how The Hip, their management, MAv, etc, have never said, "Do Not Release Any More 2006 Shows!" I think that he has misunderstood the situation.

And as far as your friends tracker, definitely let me know what his setup is. I am currently using a couple of US based hosts, so the location isn't an issue for me.

hey guys,
I just wanted to let Chris know that I completely understand the situation with the 06 shows and really respect the decision you made by listening to the REQUEST, and that I would have done the same thing had I been in your shoes, no matter what anyone else says (short of the Hip of course)

They might also have some sort of a treat up their sleeves for us; MAv has been filming all of the shows as well... sometimes with multiple cameras.

it might also be a case of the songs are works in progress, and may not want these unfinished versions preserved until they're done.

bob pollard often had the same requests when guided by voices fans were taping.

Yeah, he kind of hinted at a proper Hip documentary (not that Macroscopic wasn't great, just not... Traditional, I guess), so maybe that's what all this is about.

EDIT: And maybe what's taking the album so long...
