always been a fan of Shaq, and i really don't like Dallas...especially seeing as they knocked off Phoenix, truthfully though, I'm just happy Detroit or San Antonio didn't make it back to the finals this year.

lol! no shit! but really, it's the exact same situation the Oilers were in...Miami are 8-1 this playoffs at home, and I can't see Shaq not playing well after having the worst playoff game of his career...

I can't see the Heat winning the series. Dallas haven't played all that great themselves and they are upu 2-0. The Heat have a faded version of Shaq and they have Wade. Other than that, how can they turn into this great team all of a sudden? Walker? haha. Williams? 58 year old Payton? Udonis "throwing up bricks" Haslem?

Alonzo "scum" Mourning?

The Heat are done! Congrats to the Mavs! Cuban finally got his wish. :thumb:

It looks like my statement may come back to haunt me but in my defense, this series should probably be over now with Cuban's team victorious. Heck, I thought the NHL refs were bad but the NBA refs take bad to a whole new level. The amount of influence the refs have on an NBA game is SCARY. I usually don't like to blame refs for losses but I've seen it all too often in the NBA. Whether it's Lebron getting phantom calls for free throws or taking three steps without getting whistled or Dwayne Wade going to the line with 1.9 seconds left in a game and deciding the game with two free throws when he WAS NOT EVEN TOUCHED ON THE PLAY AND TWO REFS CLOSE TO THE PLAY LET IT GO BUT THE REF WHO WAS ABOUT FOURTY FEET AWAY MADE THE CALL (same ref who did game 4 of the Suns/Lakers series and screwed over Nash btw) it's always something. There is an article on ESPN that pretty much sums up my feelings and since I am not always good at expressing my opinions, I'll express what I mean through the words of Bill Simmons.
The link is <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060620">http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/060620</a><!-- m -->
Some nice ones:
Speaking of the refs, Game 5 of the Finals took its rightful place alongside Game 7 of the Seattle-Phoenix series in 1993, Game 6 of the Kings-Lakers series in 2002, Game 5 of the Knicks-Celtics series in 1973 and some of the other famous entries in the Pantheon of One-Sided Officiated Games........
First, Dwyane Wade shot as many free throws (25) as the entire Dallas team in Game 5. I just don't see how there's any way this can happen in a fairly-called game. It's theoretically impossible......
Second, everyone knew the officiating would be a problem heading into this series because of Cuban's past problems with the league. In my Finals preview, I wrote that "No team depends on the refs quite like the Heat. When the refs are calling all the bumps on Shaq and protecting Wade on every drive, they're unstoppable. When they're calling everything fairly, they're eminently beatable. If they're not getting any calls, they're just about hopeless. I could see the refs swinging two games in Miami's favor during this series, possibly three. In fact, I'm already depressed about it and the series hasn't even started yet." Well, we had our two games -- Game 3 (the last five minutes were just obscene) and Game 5 (again, a top-five debacle). And the series isn't over yet.....
Bad referees have a tendency to get swayed by the home crowd, and bad referees never have the stones to make a tough call on the road.....
Then I went on to list the worst six referees. Here was No. 2 on the list:
"2. Bennett Salvatore -- Always one of the worst, he took it to another level this season. If you see him on the court at the start of the game, get ready for about six technicals, two near-brawls and both coaches having to be restrained by their assistants at various times."
Why is this relevant? Not only did Salvatore officiate Game 4 of the Suns-Lakers series (the one where Kobe tied it at the end of regulation and won it at the end of OT on two shaky non-calls on Nash, both by Salvatore), not only did Salvatore officiate Sunday night's Game 5 (in which Miami had a 40-12 free-throw advantage at one point), but Salvatore called the foul on Wade's final drive in overtime (remember, the call where ABC couldn't find a replay to show that anyone touched him?) even though he was standing at midcourt a full 35-40 feet from the play, and even though two other refs were closer to the play. Not only was that NOT his call, he butchered it.. .........
Look, we all love Dwyane Wade. He's fantastic. But there's absolutely no scenario in which a 2-guard should be attempting as many free throws as everyone on the other team. It's absolutely unfathomable. And here's what really kills me: If there's a Game 7, you KNOW they'll come up with the best possible officials for that particular game. So why wouldn't every Finals game work like that? We have seven possible games spread over 17 days ... they couldn't pick the best three or four refs and have them work every game, like how MLB picks the best seven umps to comprise the World Series crew? Why wouldn't that work? Is there a single reason you can come up with? Arrrrrrrrgh.

hey, here's an idea, why don't you guys start paying attention to the actual sporting events, rather than just worry about who i'm cheering for...
Wade was absolutely unreal those last 4 games, Jordan-esque...
what an exciting playoffs this year. here's hoping that next year's will be just as good.

We're trying, but we keep getting distracted by your "bandwagon billboards".
Canuck, some of us were immersing ourselves in sports and tempering allegiances to our favorite franchises when you were still sucking on your sister's teat.

....even better because of a little help from his friends (refs). Not even Jordan got the calls that Wade got in the series. It was bordering on Vince Mcmahon type stuff.

NOBODY can ever compare anybody to Jordan. What he did for the game is unmatchable. There will never ever ever be another Jordan

Very well said.
Lots of people try and compare current players to MJ, but usually for a specific part of their game (i.e. their ball handling is very "jordanesque" - or something along those lines). However, Jordan could do it all!
I would have loved to have seen him play in his hay-day. He's a realy hero of mine.

Ill admit I dont really care for b-ball, but I think I saw every Bulls playoff game between 1991-1998 just cause of Jordan, he would just dominate the court and he was magic to watch. Kind of the same way I feel with Tiger Woods when he's tearing up golf courses and destroying the field. Its something special in sports when people come along like this once in awhile.
