Davinci Code.... Anyone seen it yet?? - NMAS - 05-23-2006
Trying to decide if it is worth seeing in the theatre. I'd like to hear some reviews.

I saw it opening night. It was good. Not as good as the book, but I wasn't expecting it to be. It's also pretty long, but the more I think about it, there was no real way it could have been shorter without making the movie worse.

i could give two shits and a fuc kless about this movie...it's all hype!
movies in general suck...
that being said, i wouldn't mind seeing El Nacho Libre...Jack Black as a Mexican wrestler is an offer I can't refuse.

just finished the book, thought his earlier work 'angels & demons' was way better, but regardless i've got plans to see it this weekend

Have not seen Da Vinci Code.....
But Jenna & I did manage to see Thank You for Smoking, and we both found it to be uniquely 'smart' and very funny. Highly recommended for everyone, even you cinema snobs out there (like myself)....

Saw it last night, and I thought it was pretty good. I've never read the book, but the movie was definitely entertaining. I especially enjoyed the scene where Ian McKellan's character is showing them all the clues in the Last Supper painting. Pretty interesting stuff if you ask me. And apparently we're all gonna burn in hell for liking it, LOL. The amount of controversy this thing has stirred up is beyond ridiculous. The funny part is that the more people bitch about it, the more money it makes. Apparently it made over $240 million worldwide in it's first weekend.

It's definitely worth the admission price. The book itself is fast-paced, and the movie is as well. The only beef I have with the movie is Tom Hanks. I mean, Tom Hanks is a fantastic actor, in a league of his own, really, but I don't think he fit well in this film. Also, there is not enough character development, Hanks and that French girl seem sloppy, although McKellan and Jean Reno are pretty good. Besides that, its a fantastic film. I don't understand all the negative reviews surrounding this film. If this wasn't based on a controversial novel it would have been a controversial four star film.

I can't see this movie in theatres on principal of being a book snob and a movie snob. It's an adapatation of a poorly witten book by a mediocre director and written by the worst big name writer in Hollywood. I'll wait and rent the DVD.
I work in a book store, and I've never been more sick of anything in my life. It's a pulp thiller, not fine literature, I wish more people knew the difference.

It was a fun read with some interesting stuff tied into it, nothing more.

I didnt read the book but saw the movie this past weekend...
I found it to be interesting and entertaining.
I like the controversy this book/movie is causing too...
people get into such a tizzy over fictional things

Saw it on the weekend. As some others have said, it was good but not fantastic. Definitely not as good as the book, but what movie ever is.
I found the beginning very fast paced and most likely a little confusing for people who may have not read the book.
I don't mind Tom hanks, but he didn't portray the Robert Langdon as I pictured him in the book. I pictured him being more assertive, more energetic, and as some other review I read stated, almost part Indiana Jones style character if you know what I mean?
All I hope is that the movie does well enough to make an "Angels and Demons" movie as it was a much better read IMO. But, if you thought this movie stirred up controversy, thats nothing to what an Angels and Demons movie would do.............
All in all I defintiely think it was worth the admisson price! Plus the girl that plays Sophia............what an absolutely beautiful woman............WOW

The Shining...probably the only one I can really say that about.
I read Da Vinci Code...good read, hard to put down. I imagine I'll rent the movie sometime n the future.

I seen it. I enjoyed it. More action than I would have thought. Definately worth the money. The funniest part came from my friend though...
"I think it was originally called 'The Vinci Code', but they changed it 'Da Vinci Code' to garner some street cred" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I enjoyed it, definitely not as bad as the critics are saying.
My beef is the character development in general. All my favourite movies (Almost Famous, 40-year-old virgin, Shawshank Redemption) have one thing in common -- really likeable characters, and this doesnt.
But, its a good popcorn movie, maybe a step above that.
