I don't know about Hipwise, but if you're looking for enjoyment, and you've never been there, Montreal would get my vote as the most fun city in Canada.

Hip shows rock no matter where in Canada, you cant go wrong really. But since your coming up from the South you'd probably want to hit Toronto, less of a drive than to Montreal or out West/East, and Toronto will have everything you need to get crazy, if you like big cities.

I guess it all depends on where they play, if they were doing an outdoors summer tour and were going to places like Wasaga Beach again, that would be some real fun. Nothing like camping the beach and a Hip concert in one weekend. Or if you like big arena shows, T.O or Montreal would kick ass, and the cities are great, especially Montreal.

*I actually hate going to Toronto, but if its for the Hip, its ok.

Hip shows in Winnipeg are usually really good but if you're going more for the city and the experience I'd probably say Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

I'd love to say something out west here but honestly, Montreal would be my first pick simply because the majority of the unbiased I've talked to place it above all other Canadian cities for an unforgettable time.

My second pick would be Toronto because of their neverending support for TTH and because of the massive cheers I hear on any T.O. bootleg, which is hardly matched on any others I listen to.

I'd choose according to venue rather than city - TTH in any small club is a rare experience and not to be missed. Also, if they ever played Kingston again, that would definitely trump the two cities I've mentioned.

go to B.C.! eat some of their killer mountain shrooms, smoke some of their world class cheeba, and you'll feel tragically hip in no time...you'll be feelin the tunes too!

seriously though, and outdoor show in Vancouver (or even Victoria) would be the best IMO, the surroundings are incredible.

my suggestion would be to point the car south and check them out in the states. the further South the better. Border towns in the states and anywhere in Canada you'll be lucky to get good seats. down South you could yell out requests and Gord would probably reply
'if you stop shoutin it might get played." words to that effect washington dc 1996......i think yelled by Philhip.
