It's only minor hockey... ah well sorry for you die hard NHLers, but please read this. I'll simply post the e-mail that I sent to the President, the Midget League Coordinator of the Southern New Brunswick Minor Hockey Association and the Kennebecasis Valley Minor Hockey Association Vice President.

My name is Sean Bonner, and I am a player on the Midget Recreation team the "KV Senators".
Last Thursday at the Rothesay Arena, we played our crossover game against the Saint John Flames. We ended up winning that game to advance to the Day Of Champions. After the game, our head coach, Dr. Tom McCue, informed us that within three minutes of our game commencing, he was informed that his son, Brendan (who is also on the team), had been suspended for a period of one game. Dr. McCue did not share this information with the rest of the team, let alone his own son, Brendan. Immediately after the game, Dr. McCue informed the team of the situation, and told us that the worst that would happen is that he would be suspended for the Day Of Champions.
Last night, our entire team received a talk-mail, informing us that due to our coach's decision, our entire team would not be allowed to participate in the Day Of Champions.
This news has really put a damper on everybody's spirits, especially those who will be to old to participate in minor hockey next year. I honestly do not understand why the whole team must suffer for a decision that Dr. McCue made without informing the team or his coaching assistants. It is hard to fathom why Dr. McCue made this decision, but why punish parties that were not even involved? It is especially disheartening not only to end a season in this manner, but an entire minor hockey career. This dark cloud is idealy not the way that an athlete would like to finish his hockey career.
My suggestion is perhaps an alternate course of action. It may even be ideal for both parties (The KV Senators and the Saint John Flames) to perhaps even play a rematch, without Dr. McCue behind the bench and without Brendan on the ice.

OHA ruling ends Warriors playoff run

The Welland Jr. Canadians went from on-ice playoff losers to off-ice winners after the team won a protest against the Stoney Creek Jr. B Warriors Monday, March 13.
Stoney Creek battled back from a 3-1 series deficit and clinched the quarter-final battle with an unbelievable come-from-behind overtime win in Welland March 12, but had their season ended less than 12 hours later on a minor technicality.
The trouble for Stoney Creek started after Saturday's 4-2 game six win at home. After the game, Welland launched a protest claiming the Warriors had used an ineligible player.
The protest related to Warriors veteran defencemen Matt Winger's participation in the game. Winger was assessed an instigator minor for fighting in Game 5.
The instigator minor usually carries a minimum one game suspension but teams can opt to pay a fine in place of the suspension, which is often referred to as a buy back.
The Warriors decided to buy back Winger's suspension, allowing him to play in Game 6. However, buy backs are not allowed during the playoffs and players must sit out the suspension.
On Sunday, the Ontario Hockey Association was unable to render a decision prior to the start of game 7 in Welland.
Down 6-4 with less than a minute to go, Byron Elliott, who scored a GHL record six goals in one game, brought the Warriors to within one with 35 seconds to go.
With only nine seconds left on the clock, Jason Pavao scored to send the game into overtime.
Elliott scored just more than four minutes into the first overtime to give Stoney Creek the series.
While the Warriors celebrated their victory on the ice, little did they know that just a few hours later, it would be the losing team (Welland) that would get the pass to the next round.
Despite having won the seventh game of the quarter-finals in one of the greatest games in Stoney Creek Jr. B history, the OHA ruled the Warriors used an ineligible player during their Game 6 win over the Jr. Canadians and awarded the win to the Jr. Canadians.
This meant the Jr. Canadians had actually won the series after Saturday's game four games to two, scratching Sunday's game from the record books.
The Welland Canadians will face the Niagara Falls Canucks in the semifinals, which begin Tuesday in Niagara Falls.
Coach Glenn Walsh took responsibility for the situation, saying, "it's a shame the players have to suffer for a mistake that I made."
Walsh offered to take an indefinite suspension as penalty for the error, hoping the OHA would allow the players to settle the situation on the ice. In the end, however, the decision was made to award the series to Welland.
"I'm so proud of this team and what they accomplished despite the adversity," he added. "They knew on Sunday night the protest might not go our way. Yet they battled right until the end and won the series.
"We may be out of the playoffs, but we know in our hearts we won the series. We ended our season with a win."
OHA president Brent Ladds said the decision to reverse the Warriors' series win was "one of the most difficult and unfortunate situations the association has ever had to make.
"Glenn (Walsh) is one of the most respected coaches in the OHA.We all really feel for him. It was an honest mistake."
Mr. Ladds said the OHA was up against a tough situation in that the Welland organization would not budge on its protest.
He said Welland could have withdrawn the protest or agreed to replay game six.
"Welland indicated that if they lost the replay game, they would protest that as well, so we had no choice."
Mr. Ladds added that the ruling that cost the Warriors a berth in the GHL semifinals will likely be reviewed at an upcoming OHA meeting.
"This is the first time I can remember in our history that a series victory was reversed under these circumstances," he said.
Welland opened the quarter-final series with a thrilling 3-2 win in the fourth overtime of game one.
Stoney Creek responded by taking game two at home 3-2, but dropped the next two games to go down 3-1 in the series.
On March 9, the Warriors pulled off a 5-2 win in Welland to pull within one game.
On Saturday night, Stoney Creek won again, this time 4-2, and followed up with the game seven win.
However, due to the OHA ruling, Saturday's game will go down as a 1-0 win for Welland and Sunday's game will be wiped from the books. The series will be recorded as a 4-2 win for Welland.
The Warriors gathered Monday night for a meeting, where they were told about the OHA ruling.
The players, while disappointed, refused to blame their coach for the situation.
"Welland knows we won the series," said veteran defenceman Jason Pavao. "We support our coach."

Sean, you have my sympathy - but the league made the right decision. I referee minor hockey in the Niagara region and the coach makes decisions on behalf of the entire team - it's his job. Obviously, your coach is a complete moron and I encourage you and your fellow teammates to urinate on his front porch. Unfortunately, having an ineligible player participate in a game causes an automatic forfeiture of that game. Your coach screwed over your entire team. What a douche.

that really sucks for you and the players on your team.. i hope that you(and your team) can play your last game depite those circumstances...good luck on your appeal
btw i was helping with my brothers team a week ago or so, and we had a player ejected from the game plus the semi-final game for fighting, even though he never through a punch.... and the ruling was overturned...anyways here's hoping!!

Wow, the linesmen must have turned on the referee on appeal. That almost never happens. Crazy.
