Motley Crue Concert - Carnival Of Sins - sean.bonner - 03-02-2006

For years I have sat and wondered, "why would anyone listen to this music? what does anybody gain from this?" I have degraded many a band, such as Motley Crue over the years, and I was very intrigued as by why anyone would like it.

Last night, I finally got it. It may seem awkward, but the atmosphere at the concert was unlike anything I've ever felt. Somewhere between Dr. Feelgood and Same Old Situation, it hit me. I can't even describe it. At first I was thinking "what the hell am I doing here." By the end, I was on my feet, cheering with everybody else there. Say what you want about "bands don't need stage shows if they like their music," but, my god, the pryrotechnics added so much to the feel. The insane drum interlude with Tommy flying through the air. And yes, even Vince Neil's chopper made for an exhilirating evening.

Through the thick concert fog, watching their cocky stage presence was also envigorating. I would gladly go see them again. And I guess its kindof hard to "get it" unless you were there.

I had very low expectations, but I was more than pleasantly surprised last night. Touché, Crue, touché.

Anybody else see them on this tour?

24 hours ago I would have agreed with you. But seriously, it was an amazing time. I can't believe how much fun I had.

And i had free tickets to the luxury suite for Moosehead, so I couldn't turn the tix down.

But let me make this clear, I am by no means a Crue fan. I know, this may be confusing... but seriously, these guys can put on a show.

Ahh, they can't be convinced. But I know exactly where you're comin' from. I had a similar experience several years ago. Wrote about it here, as a matter of fact. Had no interest in seeing MC but wanted to see Cheap Trick so I let my buddy's hot sister talk me into going. A-frigging-mazing. Had a blast.

You couldn't pay me enough money to go to a Motley Crue show, and there isn't enough booze in the world that would inebriate me enough to actually enjoy it. Same goes for Bon Jovi, Kiss, Axl Rose's Gn'R cover band, and anybody that sounds like Theory of a NickelCreed.

i'm goin to the crue in april in kelowna.i'm not a huge fan by any means, but i like to have fun and by all accounts that's what happens at a crue show..fun..is there anything wrong with having fun???

Well, we all have different definitions of "fun". It's just that my definition of fun doesn't include Tommy Lee and/or a bunch of cougars. But that's just me.

I hate Motley Poo, I dont care how much "fun" their live show is. I used to work with a guy, who'd probably cut off an appendage to see them live, and he made me sick talking about them non-stop. The jerk even made me a Motley Poo cd without asking and just handed it to me..it made a fine beer coaster for awhile, until I threw it off my balcony.

I ended up hitting their first show in Calgary last year(with a freebee ticket I have to say) and it was a pretty good show. I used to really like their first couple of albums, and wanted to take a trip back to my youth.
I got what I expected, a purple haze of reefer, guys sneaking in mickeys in their shorts, and clothes and hairstyles I didn't know even existed anymore(How did she feather all that hair, and and how does it not get stuck in the tassles of her boyfriends coat?)

Anyways, the show was pretty good, glad I didn't pay $80 for it though

They were entertaining at the Live 8 show in Barrie. I'd never pay to see them on their own though. 8)

I haven't listened to them in years, but I was at the 1990 Dr. Feelgood show in Winnipeg, and it was a terrific.
