What are your favourite videos on the bonus features?

Mine are The Darkest One, Bobcaygeon, Smalltown Bringdown.

- Lizard King - 02-01-2006

*yawn*

- The Horrible Esthete - 02-01-2006

Hey, this one's ok since alot of us Uh-mur-i-cuns never saw any of the videos until we got Hipeponymous. And some of us Uh-mur-i-cuns couldn't even get Hipeponymous very easily (i can always get new Hip albums in a Media Play store or something, but not HipE. I had to order it online and still had mass difficulties receiving it).

I like The Darkest One, of course ["One. Bucket."]

But I also really liked Poets (its the perfect caricature of "onstage Gord"]

And I also like Gift Shop....a) its one of my very favorite songs, and b) the image of GD-as-mountie saluting the camera just plain cracks me up...

The Darkest One, Good Life, and My Music at Work are my favorites. Thugs is pretty cool too.

- Ballgame - 02-01-2006

Did you get hipeponymous or just That Night In Toronto?

- My Postings At Work - 02-01-2006

I love Music @ Work- the day after I watched it, I did the posing GD did at the photocopier along with a little jig. Hey, it sounded good in my head and I went along to the beat, but for some reason I got a bunch of funny looks from the engineers. Whatever.

I really really hope they redo Grace, Too at some point. That's a painful vid to watch.

- HipFan1 - 02-02-2006

my favourite part of The Darkest One is when Bubbles flips out and yells "Fuck!!" when the cats eat all of their chicken. I love the expression on his face. After watching that video so often I decided it's time for me to get some chicken as well :thumb:

Gotta love Last American Exit haha. So old school.

- Sam - 02-04-2006

Ditto. Last American Exit and Smalltown Bringdown - blasts from the past. Plus, the band looks like they're 12 yrs old or something.

But, I'm surprised by what songs don't have videos. I've never had MuchMusic, so most of these videos were new to me and I didn't keep up on what the Hip were releasing as singles. Why bother when you're going to buy the album anyway. So, I was stunned that there was no video for Wheat Kings and Pretty Things? That was never a single? 50 Mission Cap? Also not a single?

Huh.

Definitely Poets. Blow at High Dough is a close second. A lot of the other ones look... Fake. I mean, Bobcaygeon is great at telling the story, and Darkest One is hilarious (oh God did I have trouble finding those TPB DVDs). Vaccination Scar is visually stunning, at times. Courage... What the Christ is up with Gord's hair? All in all they're good, but I've never really looked at the Hip as a band with videos. Living in the US, I never get to see them, so before the box-set, they didn't really exist to me. My biggest disappointment is Silver Jet. Sure, it's my least favourite song... But goddamn is that a bad video. I've seen better from Mike Jones.

yeah that's another great old school one.

- fingernailsonhull - 02-06-2006

Surprised no one has mentioned Nautical Disaster. Fantastic video.

- spottrax - 02-06-2006

Indeed it is cool to check out these vids. Being from Michigan, I've never seen a Hip video (maybe ABAC once or twice). They definently range from the Retro (Last American Exit) to the Boring(Grace) to the Classy (Something On) to the Artsy (and cool as hell)(Meridian) and to the Humorous (Darkest one). Wow! I can never get enough of this entire package!!!! :thumb:

ALSO, with renewed interest in all things Hip because of the box set, I really wish more than ever that the band would pull out more surprises when in concert. I know we've all suggested that it would be cool to hear more rare stuff live. Damn, how bout draggin some of the old stuff out next tour to compliment the brand new. Why not during some of these states club shows drag out a nice acoustic version of Fiddler or Pidgeon or maybe Another Midnight.....I know...subject has been beat to death...but I wanted to include it in my post... :rambo:

- Sam - 02-06-2006

From what I understand, Fiddler will never happen. But the others might show up again. Might...
