hey Steve, why is that Fsus2 a "sus"? To me that just an F major. Im not good at this stuff so just curious

- sfissel - 01-29-2006

Well, a major chord would be like this
(low to high)
x 8 10 10 10 x

those four notes are F C F A

The reason we call that a major chord is because it consists of the 1st, 3rd and 5th degree of the F major scale:

Code:
1 2 3 4  5 6 7
F G A Bb C D E

1 = F
3 = A
5 = C

In a suspended chord, the 3rd is left out and replaced with a different note. In the case of Fsus2 we've taken the 3rd out and replaced it with a G, which is the 2nd degree of the F major scale.

That leaves us with Fsus2 which looks like:
Fsus2 x 8 10 10 8 x

Hope that helps. The internet isn't the best way to give guitar lessons.

interesting. you sure do know your stuff. Are you in a band or anything? Have a myspace account? would love to hear some of your playing

- sfissel - 01-30-2006

I used to be in a band called another day lived up until about june which I did most of the writing for. Since the messy breakup, the other guy, Justin, has maintained control of our myspace page thus his shitty song, Here Instead, will probably play if you go to it. Check it out here:

My myspace page, although largely ignored, can be found at:

- SoylentGreg - 02-06-2006

Nope, Broadband. It uploads fine, it just says it's 'processing' my songs and never stops. Is there some kind of code I need to insert into my page for that slider deely to work?

- Ballgame - 02-06-2006

since I cant find the time to finish my songs I havent tried to put songs up. Sorry. In your buddy list is there any bands? If so just ask one of those guys since they have songs up
