Gus? -
Ry222 - 01-24-2006
I was reading the thread about "No Threat" and it got me thinking about "Gus." To This day and countless times listening to it, I still can't find a liking to this song. And what confuses me even more is that they played it at both Toronto concerts in 2004 and its on the greatest hits cd on Hipeponymous. I could be wrong, but it is definitely not a fan favourite. Am I the only one who feels this way about "Gus" or do you agree with me?

"If and when you get into the endzone, act like you've been there a thousand times before."

I'd agree that it's not one of my favorites, but its still a unique sound for the hip and its always nice to crank Gus while you're boogeyin' down the road. From what i understand it is much more popular to new-listeners of the hip. I could think of a few that could have bumped it off of hipeponymous.

I love Gus. It's got such a groovy sound to it. Love the beat. It has one of the more powerful beats of recent Hip tunes.

It's not my most favourite hip song either, maybe because I find it hard to sing along to.
I'm pretty sure it was played at both 2004 Toronto concerts because the 2004 tour was promoting IBE, and Gus was one of their singles off IBE.

HAHA I am also a fan of Coconut Cream.
I like:
"It's wing music to a happy cat
he likes his butterflies slow and fat"
but am still undecided about the circle jerk part.

I love that song. It's got that heavy Zeppelin-esque groove to it that I really like, and the lyrics are fantastic.

Gus is good...the god damn Polar Bear!!!
Coconut Cream?...40 gallons in a steady stream?...Really, would you have put it on the Yer Favorites?
I would have if I was feeling kinda sexually frustrated I suppose...lol
Gus has a great beat, and I find myself listening often to it on my ipod shuffle
I might have put Emporer Penguin on there...sticking to the arctic theme.
]In a spartan Antartican walk for many days
Meet with emporer Penguin devotion to the egg
And their women are swimming from half an ocean away

I disagree; 'Gus' rocks hard and leaves a wet spot. It's like the "Grace, Too" of IBE.

I vote for Gus too. It's one of those few Hip songs that I loved immediately - no adjustment period.

It was my immediate favorite off of IBE when I first bought it. It's not my favorite from their anymore, Copenhagen has taken that honour, but it still hold a special place in my heart
