There's nothing quite like bringing in a soft rock outfit from Europe to boost the ratings of a Canadian music awards show. :thumb:

Check out the photo of the day! The "Godfather" himself!

Wow, you actually went to a Nickelback show? Did ya lose a bet or something?

- MountainHip - 01-24-2006

They headlined the 1st night of Stage 13, I went there by defualt to see The Hip close the weekend.

My deepest sympathies for you & your wallet Sad

I'm definitely going to try to get tix. Coldplay, much like the Stones, in the Maritimes is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I sure hope they add some better talent to the list once its fully announced

Man Nickelback is coming here to Winnipeg, with Danko Jones.

Idunno if Danko is touring with them all around, but man...honestly, Nickelback could not pay me enough to get me to open for them. I wanna go see him, but he-al no, not with Nickelback.

Did you read that article on canoe.ca about that tour. Danko said there was a band from Toronto that begged them not to do that tour. Big Grin

Rory, if I was in Halifax I'd probably go also. Do you think they are going to be able to get Neil Young this year? If Neil is there, I'd seriously consider the trip over.

If you ask me, Danko and Nickelback on a bill is a match made in heaven.
No two Canadian bands suck nearly as much as those two powerhouses. They're like the Glass Tiger and Honeymoon Suite of my generation (with a shout out to the guys Default, who are doing Loverboy proud).

One of my favourite concert going moments. Humble and Fred Fest, 2001: Walking around the grounds with a couple of buddies where we see Danko Jones acting like the smug bastards they are. My friend Nathan goes "Hey, you're Danko Jones!" and the guys get excited... until he continues "you're ass!" And we go on our way.

Sometimes being a jerk is a lot of fun.

Anyway, Coldplay in the NS is a rarity -- maybe they'll do something with Ron Sexsmith.

Cheers

Pat

Haha...I'm not a Danko fan either but I still found it funny some band from Toronto would beg him not to tour with Nickelback.

Now Sexsmith, there's someone I could go see. He was here on PEI a while ago but I couldn't go because of work. I was royally pissed but keeping my job was a little more important than going to a concert. Big Grin

I think Danko kicks ass, personally.

But Nickleback? Ugh. Quite the comedown from last year's Junos, for sure.

As for Coldplay, I don't really hate them, they just don't do anything for me.

You know how I know you're gay.....you listen to Coldplay!!

Sorry Rory...that's just a great line from "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" that I've been waiting to pull out on someone...sorry it had to be you. From the looks of your avatar you're heterosexuality is not in question...

How awful was that show? I remember them playing "how you remind me" twice and everybody being sooo pumped. My cousin and I sat at the back and made fun of them for so long we emptied the bleachers we were sitting in. The Hip stole that entire weekend. Big surprise.

The best part of that weekend was waiting in line for 8 hours, we smoked a lot, and had water gun fights, it really was the best part, by the time we got in around midnight friday, we were pumped and stayed up th whole night wondering the campground, and drinking our faces off. I spent Saturday in Sylvan Lake swimming. It was a great weekend. Too bad the concert got in the way, I only saw Nickelcrap, and the Hip.

The hip were great. I've got a website with pics if you haven't seen it already.
