Uncanniness of Pillform #2 - LoftyPines - 12-16-2005

I was jus tlistening to BOTN and when listening to Pillform#2 I got this uncanny feeling about the song. I felt like I recognised it, but still couldnt quite figure out what it was that I could recognise. I think that it is making me think of a TTH song (which makes sense), but its somthing I cant put my finger on. The points that stand out to me are around the 00:54 and 01:34 points in the song.

Am I alone on this, perhaps just crazy?

I can totally hear what you're talking about, it is definitely hard to put your finger on. The song already has an undescribeable quality to it. I remember listening to it the first time with a sense of deja vu(not to be confused with the absolute deja vu after hearing the following track "pillform no. 1"). I think its the culmination of the whole album. The one song characterizes the feel of the entire album, for me.

As for those specific spots in the song you mentioned, LoftyPines, i can't quite pinpoint what you could be recognizing. but i would put my money on it being a musical trend we've most likey heard in a TTH song. Je ne sais quoi.

I just wanted to bump this and say that Pillform #2 is now my favourite Downie solo song. It has really been kicking my ass lately.
Thats really all I have to say.
Carry on, or continue to talk about how this song kicks ass.

While on tour, in 2003, whenever Pillform was performed or referenced I believe it was always called Pillform #3 (never 1 or 2)
And if Downie can release all of his concerts as digital downloads, why can't The Hip?
