I'm looking to improve my PC speaker system. Anyone know of a good website that deals with this type of thing. I've done some googleing, but I thought I'd ask the pros here too. Currently my Dell has two speakers and a sub. They sound really tinny when I crank the vol. In the end, I'm hoping to be able to wire speakers upstairs so I can use my PC in my office to play music through my house. Wireless maybe...

when i want good quality audio out of my laptop or desktop, i just run a stereo -> RCA cable from my headphone jack to the back of my 5.1 receiver... so now i can use my pc with my home theatre system..

i dunno your budget.. but i set myself up with components from kenwood and sony for about $600 including a set of massive floor speakers.. i dont recommend any speaker sets that come "out-of-the-box"... from my experience, they just dont have the quality.. plus you can't upgrade nor resell..

if your receiver is in a far different room than your pc there is an awesome product called the "soundbridge" by roku that lets you stream audio wirelessly from your pc to your sound system.. even lets you manipulate your music library from that room with its remote control.. check it out at futureshop

We're in the process of building a new house (completion date: Dec 21. Merry Christmas!) and I'm prewiring the kitchen, living room, and rec room for in-ceiling speakers. While my wife is hung up on the hardwood, carpet, etc, this is my big thing. Anyway, what I'll be doing is streaming to my receiver wirelessly with iTunes via the Apple Airport Express. I'll stream from my den on the main floor to the receiver in the rec room, which will then broadcast over the speakers in the various rooms (each room will have a volume control). The only thing I'm missing is an infra-red remote to skip songs or pause the music should I need to.

I. Can't. Wait.

Airport Express will also do what you want.

It's also a wireless internet router, and a printer server.

If you don't already have the Airport Express, I'd wait for the new release, because the speculation is that the next version will come with a remote.

I know that 4.8 is somewhat outdated, but the error message still shows up. This is also how Apple fans knew that a phone with iTunes was coming out months before the release.

Curses. Looks like they'll get more money out of me. Having the remote would definitely be worth getting a new one.

BTW Chris, tried to PM you with this but no luck (sorry for hijacking the thread). I tried it last night and it works like a charm.
