OK, folks. Pushing your team biases aside, who would you rather have on your team in terms of getting points? I have the option of either Patrice Bergeron or Eric Lindros. There are pros and cons for each player. Who should I pick? Discuss...

At the end of the year I would bet Lindros has more points than Bergeron. Thats if he stays healthy mind you. Both players are good, but I think the Big E is so fired up about being in Toronto its given him some needed motivation and he is where he finally wants to be, that will translate into lots of points. But thats just my take.

Is it a keeper pool? If so, take Bergeron. If not, take Lindros.

Of course there are a lot of different factors to consider. One very important one is do you get points for powerplay goals/helpers? If so, it looks like Lindros is a safe choice right now. He has been doing very well on the powerplay. Now, he may not be playing there if/when Sundin comes back so that statistic may change over time.

I guess I got lucky because I have both of them in the pool I am in and they are both getting some good points right now! 8)

Lindros is looking too good so far to be denied (that being said, I have Patrice Bergeron in my pool and am quite happy with him so far).

Rory, take Bergeron hands down. Sure Lindros is the happiest he's been since he shunned the Nordiques and was awarded to Philadelphia, but after 18 months of not playing, even eight months of monotonous Maple Leaf hockey won't be enough to get him to a level anywhere near where he was even five years ago.

Bergeron is far younger and has much more upside than Lindros, plus he's nowhere near as injury prone (one decent hit, not over-powering, will sideline Lindros for a long period of time). On a team full of over-priced veterans, Eric will have to battle much more than Bergeron will for ice time, let alone meaningful power-play time.

Bergeron will get alot of responsibility in his second year, greater exposure to key situations, and more PP time/PP points/total points in Boston. He's also a bigger part of the talent-starved Bruins than Lindros is of the talent-rich Leafs. If I'm not mistaken, Lindros is currently slotted as a third-line center, in contrast to Bergeron who will always be part of the first or second line for Boston.

Boston will lean on Patrice more and he'll thrive on it, whereas Lindros' doubts about himself, another eventual concussion, and everyone's lofty expectations of him won't be enough for the demanding Leafs fanbase.

(To clarify, I don't have any favorite or least-favorite teams and haven't for years; I'm an ardent fan of the NHL and hockey in general. In addition, I intentionally refrained from joining any pools, so if any are wondering about my potential bias, I've tried to keep that as non-existant as possible)
