What is your phobia? - jen - 04-11-2003

It is funny how something can be feared by one person and seem like nothing at all to another person. Smile Just curious what your phobias/fears are. I'll start
1) I hate spiders!!! It doesn't matter how small and harmless they are...they creep me out. I love that they kill other bugs, but please don't come in the house :rambo:
2) I am afraid of dying too young or having my husband die too young. I guess everyone fears this. (well unless you're a man...you wouldn't have a husband  )

What about all of you????

PIDERS!!!! HATE THEM!! And wouldn't you know it, prior to splitting up with my girlfriend she and our two daughters would ALWAYS call me to deal with the spiders they find in the house.. how fair is that!! I'm more freaked out by them then either of those 3 and I have to deal with them!

Ooooh.. centipedes, millipedes are right up there with spiders.. maybe even worse.. they are sooo disgusting.

I have more.. nothing noteworthy though.

I hate wasps. I run away like a little girl when I see them....

I work at the airport, so obviously SARS!!!!

I have a fear of social situations. Literally. When I'm out at a club for someone's birthday or something where there is a lot of people that I feel I'm forced to talk to... the first thing I do is find teh back door or the nearest exit, so I can slip out. It's been my biggest fear since I was a kid... I even then, only had a few kids at birthday parties. I looked it up on the internet one day, and they call it S.A.D. (Social Anxiety Disorder)... so maybe it's not exactly a fear...

Yes!!!! Wasps/Bees are on the top of my fears too!!! Last year we had TWO gigantic wasp nests in the tree above our pool. They kept dive bombing us!! Every day, there would be tons of dead bees in our pool!! Finally got rid of them. DAMN bees/wasps!!!

I too am afraid of wasps and bees. Also, I can't handle tight spaces.

Me too , I avoid all eye contact with winged insects and hope they have mercy . I hear they smell fear!! Confusedhock: LOL

Also , yellow traffic lights. Not to mention Heights. And also like WpgHipfan social settings with many people.

Yellow traffic lights?? Did something happen??

Nope , it's just the anxiety of whether it's going to turn yellow , and when it does do you floor it or do you have time to stop . If someone is coming from the opposite direction and is making a left , will they go as soon as they see the light turn yellow . (you don't know if their assuming that you can stop or not) Kinda dumb , just something that makes my heart beat a little faster.

I've pondered and thought and tried to come up with something and I can't. I'm sure there is some sort of phobia I would have, but is it really a phobia or just part of being a human being?

I love nature and nothing freaks me about about it. In fact I just want to see more and know more and experience more. Insects, animals, dogs, cats, fish birds..bring em on.
I'll talk to just about anyone, anywhere, anytime.

I guess the only thing I can think of that gets to me is when someone is yelling or screaming/arguing with another person. I live in an apt building and sometimes you can hear the people around me fighting or arguing. I get on edge when I hear it.

My better half is finishing psychology this year. Perhaps I'll lay on the couch and she can get into my head. Smile

I think I'm afraid of hieghts, but I'm to scared to go that high and find out Big Grin Other than that, I would have to say snakes or any worm measuring more than 4.25 inches in lenght. Teeth or not.

On highlanders remark about being on edge over things but not being sure if its a phobia.. well, I noticed some years ago that the 'shrink' world will put a name tag on ANYTHING. Trust me, not liking your neighbors fighting is definately going to be in their book of phobias. I seem to recall hearing on the radio about some of the sillier ones.. ie. If you drink coffee and then can't sleep, that is a condition that IS named. Its not a phobia, but it just shows that the phychology world will name just about anything! So your dislike of neighbors fighting may not be a phobia to your knowledge but I'm sure if we looked hard enough it would be in the book Smile
