List your Vehicle History - Chris Tanz - 08-31-2005

All this talk of gas prices has made me reminisce about all the crappy cars I've driven in my day. So I thought I'd start a thread getting people to list their vehicles and/or vehicles to which they've had semi-regular access over the years:

red pontiac grand prix (mom's)
blue pontiac sunbird (brother's)
some kinda busted down shit brown jeep that kept running out of gas (cousin's)
green ford escort (other brother's)
white mint-ass chick magnet buick lesabre (uncle's)
taupe road hogging buick park avenue (dad's)
green ford focus (mine)
silver mazda protege5 (wife's)

Sad thing is, the coolest of those cars was either the red grand prix (it had red hubcaps and it was wicked awesome), which belonged to my mommy, or the busted down jeep which was a rattling death trap that left me stranded in the middle of intersections when making left turns (and which I'm certain I saw flipped over and on fire on the 401 the month after my cousin sold it). My wife and I are edging toward renewed respectability with the Protege5, though even there we got burned when they released the Mazda3 like ten minutes after we bought the damn thing.

If gas prices keep up, I'm gonna make good on my vow to purchase a Smart car.

Here we go

1. 1988 Ford Tempo GLS (wrote it off in a near-fatal accident at 16 years of age)

2. 1993 Honda Prelude (Heater didn't work and I grew up in Sudbury...you do the combat math...brrr)

3. 1997 GMC Sierra 1500- bequeathed to me from my grandfather when he passed.

4. 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited- this was a nice ride...chix dug it...lol

5. 2004 Toyota Corolla Sport- it's sweet on gas...it's got a solid 4 cylinders and has 6 speakers...can't really ask for much more than that.

2. White Dodge Intrepid 94 (mine, alright until it started falling apart every day)

1. 1984 Plymouth Turismo (LEMON ALERT! LEMON ALERT!). That's where every penny of my grocery store job went from the ages of 16 to 18. What a piece of crap. I'll never even consider a Chrysler again.
2. 1988 Toyota Tercel (not the best looking car ever but holy crap was it reliable. I drove that thing across the country, down to San Fran, over to Vegas, over to Denver, and then back - never a problem). Had to get rid of it because the then g-friend/ now wife can't drive standard.
3. 1998 Acura EL (great car - had to dump it when we outgrew it)
4. 2002 Volvo V40 (thoroughly unimpressed - couldn't wait to trade it in.)
5. 2005 Volvo XC70 (sweet so far)

Alrighty - this looks like fun!

1. 198(sumthang)?? - Chevy Caprice Classic (Dad's - car I learned to drive on.)
2. 1988 - Ford LTD (Dad's - car I "legally" learned to drive on and what a huge friggin' boat that was!)
3. 1989 - Buick Century Custom (My first car! It eventually died but it was pretty sweet with the felt that had come loose from the roof and would do this psychadelic wave when you had all the windows open!)
4. 1994 - Chevy Cavalier "Coupe" (Mine as well - traded that bugger in right before she "would have" died - got $1500 bucks from Mazda = Suckers!!)
5. 2004 - Mazda 3 GS (My first brand spankin' new car! Horray for A/C that actually works!)

Wow, those dates make it look like I am a lot older than I really am. Remember that these cars were not bought brand new (Except my 3) and would have been really, really old when I finally had access to them!

The passat is a great car for the Highways around altanta but at 23MPG and requires >91 it is getting expensive to drive

1989 Merc Sable (Some woman ran a red and finished her off)
1990 Chys Daytona (cops said i needed it checked out to be road safe, they were right, it wasnt)
1991 GMC Vandura (over $100 to fill it up right now, needless to say I dont drive her very much)

1987 subaru gl hatchback...
1988 Mazda GLC...great little car.
1993 toyota corolla...my first new car...backed into by a blue haired caddy driver when it was 3 days old.
1996 Dodge Stratus...engine troubles
1999 Subaru Outback...goes anywhere!!
2003 Chysler Town & Country (wife's)...the family truckster

2000 Honda Civic - First car out of university
2001 Honda Prelude - new position at work, more money, thought a new car was needed.
2002 Honda Civic - realized that the $900 per month on the Prelude (car + insurance) wasn't worth it.
2005 Acura EL - Lease trade in, it only costs $8 more per month than my Civic did.

Chris you really like those Honda's, you must of had good experiences with them to stay with one manufacturer that long. They are pretty solid. And the Acura EL, nice trade up.. :thumb:
