We have covered who we would like to open for the HIP..... But who would we most like to see come out on stage in the middle of the HIP set unannounced and play with the HIP for 1 or 2 songs. I say Steven Tyler of Aerosmith or the whole band. Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith were at Live 8 in Barrie and were on the stage with Gordie for Rockin' In The Free World.' Steven could totally sing Little Bones. And than both bands could team up for Walk This Way.

Lightfoot to add some acoustic and backing vocals to Nautical, or Cohen to drop the "Watch" verse in Courage. How 'bout Geddy Lee's voice mixing with Paul's "Tha Barull Wuz Low-Did" on She Didn't Know?

Good lord, if your Aerosmith scenario actually happened, I'd have no choice but to turn around and walk straight out of the concert, Hip show or not. I would then spend the rest of the evening questioning the Hip's integrity and trying to get over the horror and shock of seeing a tool like Steven Tyler sharing the stage with my heroes. I freakin' hate that band.
As far as who I'd like to see perform with the Hip, any of the following artists would induce major EARgasms: Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Greg Keelor & Jim Cuddy, Gordon Lightfoot, John Samson of the Weakerthans, Kathleen Edwards, Ron Hawkins of the Lowest of the Low, Sarah Harmer, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder, Steve Earle, Neko Case, Margo Timmins, Jeff Tweedy, Beck, Peter Garrett (formerly of Midnight Oil), Bono & the Edge, Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics, Sam Roberts, Paul Westerberg, any member of Los Lobos, Danny Greaves, and last but not least, can you imagine Bob Dylan singing on a song like "Scared"? That would be unbelievable.

k-os as guest would be a strangely fucked up and fantastic scenario, kinda like when Tricky joined Maynard for "Opiate" to close out the Tool shows in 2001.
And of course I'm always partial to the genius of Chris Goss from Masters of Reality.

Agreed. K-OS would be amazing. The dude has an unbelievable singing voice and he'd sound great on any Hip song. I think it would be especially cool to hear him do the parts that Kate Fenner sang on Yawning or Snarling and Flamenco.

In that situation, i might just forget gord even being there. I've never seen her as a performer but sinead o'connor is a pretty fascinating individual. There's such an intensity in her songs and voice that when she nails it on record, it's pretty impressive. Too bad she retired for the priesthood (fascinating in its own right).

Don't forget K-OS and Gord's stirring performance together at Juno Fest 2003 at Barrymores here in Ottawa. I say stirring, since you and I were stirring coffee's down the street when it happened. Friggin' wrist bands didn't help a damn.
