Chris, I have to disagree there. I think Bettman is going to be looked back upon as the guy who saved the league. The salary cap is his baby.

I say that when the whole "Gretzky coaching in Phoenix" thing doesn't work out, he should sell his share of that franchise and become Commish. If there is anyone who can sell the game, it's the Great One.

the league still doesn't have a clue..now fans in vancouver get to see the leafs and canadians once EVERY THREE YEARS....yeah..that makes sense...we'd much rather see columbus....what a friggin' joke...i guess all the habs and leaf fans in vancouver mean shit to the league, and the fans in vancouver that like those intense games..ahh..who cares....the league can spout off bullshit like "we're going to build rivalries" and all that, which to a point is true..but isn't it cool to have rivalies with teams in your own friggin' country..one more example of how this league could give two craps about canada....

How about the back-to-back games with the same team? We (Toronto) gets two games in three nights against each of Ottawa, Montreal and Buffalo.
And we don't play Chicago, Detroit or St. Louis!!

Yeah, so. LEafs and Habs play eight times now, I'd take that over seeing the Leafs and canucks any day. No offence to the canucks, i am a big fan of vancouver. But if you live in toronto or Montreal you know how big a deal it is when these teams get together. Geez even toronto fans show emotion when the habs come to town.
Bettman isn't going anywhere, he'll end up getting a raise, he got the deal the league needed done. Now they just need to shuffle a few of the small market U.S. teams back up here to Canada.

exactly...we get minnesota something like 3 times in one week...wow...i'd much rather see them than a CANADIAN TEAM....at least i can count on shootouts like i can in a video game..... :wink:

bettman is not bringing any teams to canada....and your attitude sums it up...the east counts...the west doesn't....don't you agree that all canadian hockey fans should stick together??vancouver needs to see the habs and leafs more then once every three years..it makes no sense...and there's a shit load of emotion in the crowd when either one of those teams hits gm place....

It's funny. When teams were only playing their division rivals a few times a season, people were complaining that there weren't enough games being played against each other to create rivalries or to help teams get a hate on for each other. Now that the league has put in this kind of schedule, people are complaining that they don't get to see certain teams enough. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I have no problem with the new schedule. As a Flames fan I'm looking forward to multiple games against division rivals like Edmonton, Vancouver, and Colorado. It's gonna be great!

The 32 games vs. the Sens, Habs, Bruins and Sabres will be great...I'm not going to miss those late-night mid-weekers on the west coast one iota...
As for the back-to-backers in the same rink, you can bet having the Leafs in Ottawa or Montreal twice in three nights will produce playoff-style atmospheres, which is never a bad thing... :thumb:

I don't think that at all, The west counts, That is a typical westerners attitude you have.
I agree that the leafs shouls be out there every year but I think it is more important for the league to build up excitement again, division rivalries can do that. I'd love to see the canucks come to toronto, but I think the fact that the league is going to try and build the intensity level in the league they need to keep teams playing there own conference and division more.
I think with the Two cenferences playing each other less will build up a sort of fear of the other conference. YOu really won't know which conference is the best until you get to the stanley cup final... Sort of like baseball. I like that. But it is just my opinion
