You've probably all seen the news headlines by now and know all about her and what she did.
Just wanted to say how sad of a day this is for my/our city and all the family's involved.

In the news cast they mention how different media groups tried to follow the red van that she was released in today so to expose the area in which she will be living in. As soon as someone see's her they are just going to call the local news station anyway... she should just leave the country.

I hope the media makes her life a living hell. Also, I don't think she can leave the country, she is on parole and probably has to report everyday.

sorry, yes youre right she does have to report to her local police department etc all the time. I do believe the media and the local's will make her life hell, lets hope it doesnt make her do anything stupid though.

I think her life is going to be impossible to live.

I still think the people who should be ashamed of themselves are the one's who gave her this deal. They were way to quick to nail Bernardo and not her. I think she is just as guility as him. When you kill your own sister, it goes beyond saying someone else made you do it.

i am pretty sure the deal was made before they knew everything that she did. looking back, they have said if they knew then, what they know now, she would have never gotten a dead.

They knew about the case of Jane Doe when they made the deal. The signs were there she was not that innocent. The Crown was desperate with tunnel vision and her lawyer did a great job for her.

It's easy to criticize now, but does anyone honestly think that if the prosecution knew then what they know now that they would have made the deal?

She's friggin clueless. Some of the quotes in here are simply amazing, and quite frankly, disgusting.

There was an article in the London Free Press about how Homolka pleaded with the court to release her in Quebec because she thought that people would forgive and forget within a year. Frankly, I find that attitude very sad for a community, if that were the case. To be fair, I've heard of manslaughter cases here and in Canada where the perpetrator got 10-15 years in jail, some being released on parole within 8 or 9 years. The prosecutors got bamboozled in their desperation to nail Bernardo and I think that's why they wanted so many restrictions in place once she got released, to somehow prove they were acting in the interests of justice and not to save face.

She's not on parole, as she served her full term, but she also can't leave the country.

It's kind of hard to get through customs and immigration in most countries when you're a notorious criminal. They're picky about visas for serial sex offenders and sociopaths.

I don't know that she was actually labelled with that designation... unlikely, considering that a) this was her first conviction (at least I think it was) and b) she received a deal in a plea bargain, and being labelled a high risk offender is not something anyone agrees to in plea bargains... it's a serious charge.

I can't believe she tried to legally restrict the media from reporting anything about her once she was released. Why the hell should she get special treatment after what she has done? Hey Karla - if you don't want the media to harass you then why don't you try not killing people?! Psycho bitch...I hope her life is a living hell and that the media never leave her alone.
