Arcade Fire on the MMVAs - direwolf74 - 06-19-2005

First of all, YES, Muchmusic sucks. And their big award show seems to get worse and worse every year with shitty band after shitty band making appearances. But did anyone catch the Arcade Fire's performance? Wow! I'm just starting to get into this band, and now I finally know what all the fuss is about regarding their live show. Awesome performance. If these guys are ever in my neck of the woods, I'm definitely buying tickets to their show.

I was on the phone with my brother-in-law during their performance, and he said to me, "Who are these guys? This is an awesome performance!"

I'll be checking them out next time they're in town.

These guys are the real thing. Missed their performance due to tonight's Family Guy.

Chris did you miss them at the Olympic Island show last year? We got there just in time for them to start and were quite impressed.

Wow. Kalen Porter just won the people's choice award. Just another reason to hate democracy I suppose.

Cheers

Pat

Shania Twain and Mark McGrath won the MMVA for the MuchMoreMusic Award ....I am a little tone deaf, but I'm fairly certain my ass produces better sounds after the Ottawa Chilli cook-off than any harmony those 2 can spew out.

Goulet!!!

I missed them, DFA 1979 & Buck 65 because I was waiting for a deadbeat room mate who was supposed to be going with me.

I'm sick and tired of this kid, his stupid grin, and his freakishly independent hair.

And look out folks, a new single is one the way from Kelly Clarkson featuring none other than Canadian Idol winner and MMVA People's Choice winner Kalan Porter.

And now, back to The Arcade Fire; who has their CD? A little review would be appreciated.

I sure was glad that the Arcade Fire played early on in the show so I didn't have to watch the rest of that joke. That performance was wicked. My cousin got to see them a couple of weeks ago at the Gorge and he said they stole the show. I love Funeral. I think Rebellion Lies is actually one of the weaker songs on the album which says alot. If you don't have it buy it. If you don't enjot it I will personally refund you the purchase price.

Anyone see Ashley Simpson's half lip-synched performance? You could hear her backing vocal track all the way through the song, and oh my god was she ever off key. No wonder she has to lip sync. It was absolutely horrendous. How this woman can still have a career after so many awful and embarrasing performances is beyond me. This is what kids are into these days?? I weep for the future.

Dude, she has acid reflux. How can someone be expected to sing with acid reflux? I mean acid reflux is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus. That clearly impacts one's ability to sing live.

- SoylentGreg - 06-20-2005

Aww...I totally misread the thread title. I thought there was some huge fire at the MuchMusic awards that killed everyone. Damn.

Yeah and I have Penis Notbigenuffitis...a condition by which my penis' size does not afford me the luxury to have sexual intercourse on film...but I'm not making millions...so, no excuses ya piggybacking inferior sister hack!!!

Wow, everyone is bringing their "A" material with this thread... good job everyone! :thumb:

I missed on the Arcade Fire's performance (actually I gave the whole show a pass, wasn't expecting anything good, you know), but I heard a DJ on the radio this morning saying they totally stole the show. Maybe I'll take my chances and check when Much replays the show... they usually replay these things roughly 50 times a year, so I might get lucky.

How far into the show does the Arcade Fire play?

- Summiteer - 06-20-2005

who do you guys compare Arcade fire's sound with? or do they kinda have their own little unique sound going? are they Canadian?

I think they're right at the beginning...don't be angry if you missed the show...it'll be on repeat 136 times over the next 3.5 weeks.
