Coldplay X&Y - Lizard King - 06-07-2005
Wow, just arrived in my mail this morning, and I think its fantastic! Its not a big departure for them, but the formula that made them succesful is there in abundance and it works really well, but I dont think its a bad thing, if it aint broke dont fix it? Coldplay is like a good thing that keeps getting better over time, like a fine wine. Im sure some of you will disagree of course.
Nonetheless I think its their best effort yet, I love it!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: 1/2 !!!Standout tracks:

My one and only gripe about this album is that its got that "Copy Control Technology" and I assume its an EMI thing and not a Coldplay thing, or do the bands have a choice in it? Because the only 2 Cd's I have right now with that "CCT" is the new Tea Party and Velvet Revolver and they are both EMI records. This totally pisses me off, Im listening to it in my PC right now and it barely plays, and I wanted to put the new songs into my iPod and I cant even burn them. I think this is total bullshit, I paid for the CD I should be able to burn it onto my PC if I want to. :x Does anyone know if there is a way around it, because Id rather not download them from the net, I had a corrupt file screw up my iPod cause of that.

yup, the new album is amazing... I love the first song -- Square One -- it's just plain awesome... to be honest i think speed of sound might be one of the weakest tunes on the album
I think they have changed their sound somewhat, albiet not all that much... but some of the guitar riffs seem dirtier, and bit more rock-ish, and kickass, and it sounds great with the piano
as with their previous albums, you can just pop it into the player and love it right away, and even the "bad" songs are not even a quarter as bad as all of the other garbage out there right now
anybody catch them on Much on sunday night? they showed their performance at the Koolhaus in T.O., and the new stuff sounded great live... I can't wait to see them in August!!
as for your dilemma, I was able to find a half-decent copy on the net (bittorrent) for my mp3 player... obviously it's not as good of quality as the store-bought version, but it does the trick. let me know if you want the link to the torrent

Downloaded it off their website this morning and I listed to it twice while I mowed the lawn. Their sound hasn't changed too much, but I didn't want it to. I think it is a great sound, mix of synth, pioano, tech, chords, and C.M. has a great voice that wraps it all together into a unique sound that's easy on the ears (my ears anyway, my wife can't stand them). After the first listen I would rank it up there with their previous albums. 4 stars....

Dude, if you've got an iPod and you want to play it on your iPod, buy the album off of iTunes. It's usually cheaper than buying a CD, and you don't need to worry about the copy control nonsense. I know that X & Y is there because I downloaded it this morning. :thumb:

I think all you have to do is hold the left shift key before/during loading the CD.... once it shows up in your itunes, you should be free and clear.

Did anybody see Coldplay's Saturday Night Live performance? "Fix You" was incredible.

Bought the new disc this morning and I've been listening to it all day. What a killer album! It just might be the best thing they've done so far. Highlights for me so far are "Square One", "Fix You", and "Twisted Logic". The entire disc is great though. This band may not be everyone's cup of tea (one review I read described them as "wuss rock"), but I don't think anybody can deny the fact that this is music with substance. When it comes to big-name mainstream acts, these guys are one of the only bright lights in an otherwise dismal universe, and considering the crap that passes for music these days and the sh*t that gets shoved down our throats on a daily basis, I find Coldplay's music incredibly refreshing.

And I'll have to try that left shift button trick today, seems kinda stupid that the record company goest to the trouble of putting that big bad "Copy Control Technology" in there and a simple press of a key just negates it completely. :lol:

I know, I bought a couple of CDs that I can't put onto my IPOD due to protection...whick seems stupid to me. Also, the new Ben Folds is ina a new format that's DVD on one side and CD on the other, and the CD side won't playu on some CD players for some reason, or even DVD players for that matter

god, i really hope not...i think they're the most overrhyped thing in music..the lyrics are laughable, the songs are all pretty much the same..they're the air supply for the new generation....if i want to hear whiny british 'pop music" i'll listen to elton john from the 90's....sorry to highjack a thread, but i had to say my bit....
